Fun times ahead. Sky is the limit

Poeltl with the 3pt shot is gonna be a different animal.

If he shows up with a corner 3, that'd be pretty huge.

He's training with some of the Raps coaching staff in Austria. I assume they're working on that 3pt shot?

He can train all he likes. If it actually proves to be functional, then I will be thrilled!

Nobody will functionally guard Poeltl out there regardless. Teams wont stretch their defense out to avoid maybe one Poeltl 3 per game.

Valanciunas stretched his range out, but it really didn't help NO's spacing because teams would live with Val 3pt attempts if it took the ball out of the hands of Zion, Ingram etc. Like Gasol for us in the playoffs, teams were happy when Marc was shooting from out there.

The utility extracted would be, in theory, pulling his defender out of the paint to open up the interior for the slashers. Assuming he's hitting at league-average from the corners, that would be pretty useful. But that depends heavily on him shooting beyond a specific threshold. If we're getting 35% from him, it won't matter.

Jonas, for example, hasn't yet logged a season of 37%+ from 3 and the one season he averaged 2+ 3PA/g, he was at 36.1%, he wasn't spamming from the corner.

Using him ATB wasn't a hot plan. He was 0.7% above league-average 3P%, so of course they were living with him bombing from there, you know what I mean?

Eh. I don't expect anything too crazy.

I am, however, excited to cheer for wins and have a different mentality to the season. This year, we knew we were gonna be crap.

In 25-26, we have a shot to be north of .500, and that's exciting!

I like where the league is in general with this run Indiana is on. I thought the Celtics would roll the East every year, then when Tatum went out I thought OKC had the start of an easy dynasty.

Not saying it’ll be the Raptors, but it seems likelier than usual that a team can go from mid to a Finals run.

My concern is the front line.

Beyond Poeltl and Scottie, there's nobody on the roster I feel is even adequate at the 4/5, and there is no money to address the issue with anything other than #9 and minimum guys. Rookies (even lottery picks) who are even league average at the 4/5 are really, really rare.

So while I think the team is interesting, one significant injury to Jacob or Scottie means the team falling back into the lottery. Even if they do manage to make it to the playoffs and/or through the play-in, the scouting report for how to beat this team in the playoffs is ridiculously simple: attack Jacob and get him in foul trouble.

The answer to any question worded like the thread title should always be, sarcastically, yes you're the only one. In all realgm and Raptors fandom, you are the only one excited.

we probably would’ve made the play in without our 4th quarter tank line ups. plus iq missing 50 games, jakobe missing 30, scottie missing 27 and playing hurt for a number of others. adding ingram who didnt play at all in place of brown and olynik who missed most of the season anyway.

Ya we need a big or two, unless the FO is expecting big leaps from Mogbo and Chomche.

Our starting 5 - if healthy - is actually pretty good.

I am excited man. BI for pennies on the dollar was a huge get for us and he wanted to be here. Scottie will work on taking it to another level. Our young guys developing and bench mob returning. Also the 9th pick is gonna be nice.
