They are going to slash the draft pick salary off the books and keep Duncan so they can sign him to another 5 year deal next year

That pick 20 looks destined to be dealt.

Hope we can do this without dealing Niko or Kel’el but let’s see what happens. Would be a major coup to retain those 2. Particularly if we can extend Niko at that $10m per number.

Unless we are just extremely late this year in working out prospects it does seem odd we haven’t summoned at very least a top 30 prospect yet.

If we were going with the 'blow it up approach' the time to cash out was after the July 2023 summer. We had just come off of a finals run and made no upgrades to the roster (missed out on Dame). Jimmy's value was at an all-time high. Bam's was at an all-time high.

Trading both could have netted at least 6+ FRPs in return + young assets, and that doesn't even include Tyler. We also wouldn't have traded a 1st round pick for Terry Rozier, giving us even more capital.

If a theoretical KD trade happens, there could be another window where trading it all and resetting makes sense in 2-3 years. But today, I don’t see it.

We have a deal in place already. Been negotiating in good faith with the Suns since the trade deadline. Riley said he really wanted to deal Butler to the Suns. They understood we couldn’t take on Beal. Might take up till just before draft to announce or after the finals are over. Kleiman is not going to phuck over Riley so everyone dealing in good faith.

Perfect storm this year to get this done. We have a team that’s desperate to get out of the tax and we have just the right mix of young players and expiring’s to get this done finally. Finally!!!

a similar but better IMO direction would be offering Rozier/Kove to give Cs salary relief for the 4 years they have committed to Jrue Holiday. The logic being that IF Miami is going to go for KD then they really need to go ALL in and shore up that POA defense with a vet. need someone who can be a lockdown option for bigger guards. I would honestly trade 2 picks for D White - his contract is insane value.
