I sure hope PATFO are looking at ways to acquire 6'8" SF Sam Hauser and his career 42% from 3 at only around $10M to $12.5M or so per year starting next season with the new contract. Excellent value. He made just over $2M this season.

Its not my money so I really dont care but all of our abilities to maneuver go right out the door with that contract.

There is a reason Phoenix couldn't win squat with him because he handcuffs teams from being able to make moves to get better.

Like I said, Im all for taking chances to get good but I dont think I would take that chance. Not without some kind of guarantees or incentives.

Looking at the cast of available guys though, it might be the only way to go

Have to think with KD and the upcoming Fox extension PATFO counted the value for cost of KD vs. Barnes (expiring) and Vassell (closer to his ceiling than guys coming up behind him). It's rare to get the best player returning with a collection of assets you have. Thank goodness it's short (so better than Giannis and cheaper in terms of asset cost) but this is what the new normal for top tier players is.

Suns want to extend Booker for an average of $75M per year!

KD doesn't have to be relied on to be 'the man', neither does Fox, but collectively they are exceptional talents whose games fit.

We're about to go from Tre Jones and Champie to Fox and KD. Upgrades cost. This is the current landscape. But I agree it's risky. I hope we go out and get shooters as we're likely losing a couple of our top ones in Barnes and Dev. Sam Hauser and his 42% from 3 is getting shopped. I'd love it if we could get him somehow.

KD may be older but he is a pure bucket. Suns were far better with him on the court than off. They didn't work for a lot of reasons, and it's likely the case that KD will be as valuable to us as a player as he as an asset to the Suns.

But to your roster improvement point, I don't think we'll be done with KD should we get him. Still holes to fill on the roster.

Hauser is very Spurs-esque player.. would be a nice pick up. He would of fit right in on those Spurs title run teams.

Celtics may be desperate to add offense and athleticism with Tatum out most/all of coming season.

KD would pay dividends, and will still be a big time scorer for at least two more seasons, and adequate enough defensively playing at big forward.

Fox
Durant
Wemby

That's a special big three to work with over the next three seasons at least (Durant). KD + Wemby on defense around the paint would be killer.

KD would be on the best team and in the best org., with reliability and upside, since Golden State in 2018-2019 (but had the Draymond Green lingering stuff). The Nets were never a finished product and too volatile, just too good to be true. Phoenix also was incomplete each season and shallow, weird ownership stuff.

Not while Harrison Barnes is on the roster. If Harrison is traded, then a possibility.

For sure. Just that Barnes and his expiring contract have been often included in KD trade scenarios, so a cheap replacement would be necessary.
