Jak/RJ/Dick. No picks please, but I wonder if they give up 9th in a trade like this to avoid the tax and fill the rest of the roster with more ready players on small deals...

Deal, you sort out the centre later

Not surprising though. Will KD approve a trade to the Raps? Seems unlikely at this stage of his career.

I don't think he says no.

He sees what we have and what the front office would be willing to do to go all in.

He would come to Toronto and he would hoop.

That's kinda the problem with getting him at this point of his career, KD goes to whatever team and just hoop. And they still lose for whatever reason. Especially if we lose Poeltl in this deal, we'd desperately need at least two competent bigs and I'm not convinced this FO is capable of finding them when they've had trouble finding even one for quite a while now.

We’d definitely need something lined up. Ideally we could sign a 24mpg guy with the MLE. Horford, Lopez, Capela, etc. If we draft Maluach that should cover us for the most part. Maybe float Dick to ORL for one of WCJ or Bitadze.

100%. If you’re a competitor, you’ll attract the right guy (ex. Gasol)

To be fair, why would he want to be here? He isn't Canadian, it IS another country, we are coming off a fairly dismal season and don't have a TON of crazy talent on the roster to be super exciting to an older vet like Durant who's probably interested in contention. You know what I mean?

What's his motivation for wanting to come here?

He broke Finch and Udoka news of Knicks attempting it before Shams broke it, so that's that.

It'd be a disaster trading for KD at this point, unless its dirt cheap, which wouldn't be the case. Mainly because he can't stay healthy atp in his career.

Attract? Like a free agent! Gasol was acquired in trade for JV and Delon Wright, not sure if attract is the right word

I literally don’t understand the Durant to San Antonio love. It literally makes zero sense for San Antonio considering KDs age and where that team is right now.

It's not as crazy as it seems. Wemby is on a rookie deal for the next 2 seasons. Much easier to build a championship roster with him taking less than 10% of the cap rather than 30%. They already traded for Fox who is turning 28 and in his prime. Waiting another 2-3 years to contend would be "wasting" a few of his prime years.
