you are not alone in that feeling. i dont see him ending his career in a mediocre team unless a big blockbuster happens between several teams and the heat and we dont have the assets outside bam/herro to do thatMartyCONLONNN wrote:3ammy3uck3ts wrote:
If we land KD could something like this net us half our assets back as opposed to trading for someone like Derozan?
a similar but better IMO direction would be offering Rozier/Kove to give Cs salary relief for the 4 years they have committed to Jrue Holiday. The logic being that IF Miami is going to go for KD then they really need to go ALL in and shore up that POA defense with a vet. need someone who can be a lockdown option for bigger guards. I would honestly trade 2 picks for D White - his contract is insane value.
Ware
Bam
KD
Herro
Holiday
Still feel pretty certain about KD not coming here.

A lot don’t like that idea but I mentioned a few weeks ago. I think Jrue has a resurgence here and I’m open to it. We need to be looking at things like that and I agree we do need to go all in if this is the direction we’re going to take. I’d love White but that’s highly doubtful lol

KD is not going to want to be end his career on a Miami Heat that is going nowhere. We should pass if the opportunity comes up, unless it’s incredibly cheap.

Re: 2025 Offseason Season Thread Vol. 1
Anyone predicting what KD is gonna want aint paid any attention to his actions over the course of his career. "KD won't join the team who just eliminated him in the playoffs after being up 3-1". "If he wants to be in New York why would he choose Brooklyn over the Knicks?". Here is the other thing regarding trades for guys of his stature. If he wasn't really open to it, Miami wouldn't be at the table. Kleiman tells Riley KD isn't really interested. And that's that. Miami isn't flying blind and talking with the Suns on one front and begging and pleading with KD to change his mind on the other.

KD was more than happy to end his career on a suns team going nowhere. This is only happening right now because they tried to trade him without any communication at the deadline.

KD was completely fine coming here at the deadline, kn fact it was so close to happening Windhorst was saying “by this time tomorrow KD will be on the Suns or the Heat”.

if Ware takes another step as a rim protector/help side defender + Jrue to Davion and HH for revolving door of high level POA... then Bam? looking at a top 5 defense.
but you only push for that if you can get an elite scorer and again I don't see it with KD. Our local guys are saying things got quiet with us but things have gone quiet with Spurs too with Gambo and others talking Clippers as a real possibility - things are just quiet across the board as negotiations with several teams are taking off

I wouldn’t read too much into the strong relationship between KD’s agent and Riley. That kind of connection is common around the league, and I doubt the Suns' GM will be swayed by it. They’ll likely go with the best offer on the table. Honestly, our package doesn’t seem all that compelling unless Ware is included.

It is unlikely that Kevin Durant won't have a giant say in where he plays. An expiring contract player who will ask for an extension who has a history of asking out. If he tells the Suns "not there" and more importantly tells the team trying to trade for him "not you" he won't be going there. No one is looking for an unhappy Durant on their roster. Will he make it a one team list? Probably not. But it won't just be about the best offer. It will be the best from the places where Durant wants to play.

Exactly. The teams you see in the running right now is his list. The Suns will be forced to take the best package they can get from those teams. Trading to the East seems like a much better option unless they can get the Spurs to overpay which I don’t think they will

That’s an underrated standpoint from KDs perspective too, he should want to come out East. I don’t agree with the West is so much better than the East narrative especially with what we’re seeing in the finals but with Tatum out that’s a major team out of it next year already

If kd wants to win, Miami isn't a likely destination even if in the east. He's a frontrunner. But also smart to learn from his mistakes. The suns floundered due to the lack of elite role play talent. Beal, book, and himself might work in 2k, but not on an NBA court. Houston, the spurs, and the wolves offer him multiple 2 way defenders around him. He's not interested in chasing athletic perimeter players on defense anymore.
Miami inclusion is likely to cash out for max dollars or leverage. However, I do think the heat have trade pieces to intrigue the suns' plan to build around book.

KD just watched Indiana waltz into the Finals out East. He's seeing a Heat team that has been close, but couldn't get over the hump and had a down year this year. The Celtics are about to blow it up. The Knicks just fired their head coach. The Cavs are a good regular season side that can't get over the hump in the postseason...compare that to the dog fight out West and it looks pretty appealing.
