Who wants Rui Hachimura?

Post#1 » by scoobs07 » Fri Jun 13, 2025 4:51 pm

What would you say his value is? Would you want him on your team? What would you say is a fair trade for him?

-Shot 50%+ FG and 40%+ 3PT FG past two seasons.
-One of the best mid-range shooters in NBA.
-Highly efficient offensive player.
-Can play 3 and 4, occasionally 5.
-18.2 million expiring contract.

What are the Lakers looking for in return? The player you describe seems like someone they would want to keep.

I don't hate him as salary match in an Allen trade with a bunch of draft capital attached to him.

LAL wants to keep him, but I don't think he is untouchable. LAL has several power forward sized players, and might look for some sort of consolidation. Example: Turn Rui into the rim-running, lob threat big they are looking for, or turn Rui into more of a 2/3 than a 3/4.

Something like Rui + Milton + some draft capital for Allen would seem to make sense for both parties, depending on their goals.

Makes sense. But I have heard some folks suggest hat the owner would rather just keep Allen. But Rui would seem to complement Mobley well at the 5, if Gilbert did want to go that route.

I mean the plus obviously goes the other way. Why is LA paying to make a lateral at best move only attached to a bunch of money?

More salary, not more value.

LAL probably would have done that last season, but now it doesn't make sense for them. Consider Grant's age, massive contract, and the fact that he is also a 3/4. The goal would be to turn Rui into a 5 or a 2/3.

Yes but what value is Portland offering? You can't think LA would free you of the rest of that deal for free. But nowhere did you indicate Portland would be paying for this freedom.

Clippers can use him, I suggested DJJ for Hachimura trade, DJJ is a bit duplicative with Dunn and they need perimeter offense and good size at the PF.
Pistons also is a very good fit, they can give Fontechio, Sasser and 2 2nds.
Defense wins draft lotteries!

Exactly.

Doubt he will be able to rebuild his value on the bench behind better players.

I feel like the + is on the wrong side here. Portland would have to add

Doubt there is any incentive I would be willing to offer that LAL would accept.

Highly unlikely they trade with each other. But it makes sense. DJJ satisfies the goal of turning Rui into a 2/3, and he also is a former teammate of Luka. I also would consider the Detroit deal because of Sasser and the 2nds. I think Sasser is under rated.

I see so this whole exchange was just pointless lol. You listed a guy but without a serious proposal in mind? I shouldn't have engaged, my bad.

Grant has negative trade value. Rui is expiring. It would be malpractice for the Blazers not to do the swap straight up. Grant makes $30M per and got benched.
