I feel like him and LaMelo would absolutely hit it off, similar personalities and both like to run and gun. Not sure if that’s a good thing…

All for the running and gunning but not sure about the personality part lol

tbh, i dont really want any of our young impressionable players hitting it off too well with melo. melo is a goofball. never gonna take that kid out of him. its who he is. lockerroom needs to be balanced with serious workers. its ok to have goofballs to keep mood light, but too many is chaos.

edit: i realize the og comment was about playstyle. and i'm not suggesting ace is a goofball, although his interviews suggest he might be. point is not about ace. its more of a melo comment. theres a reason the front office keeps talking about culture, hard work, serious players etc... they know melo is basically a manchild who isnt going to change. cant surround him with more of the same. melo will be 40 acting the same way. like i said, thats his personality, for better or worse.

the flashes of defensive effort and intent is my favourite tease for Ace. it looks like he could have the appetite to be a 2 way player.

with the front office prioritising character, if they pick Ace it should be a good sign that he has given the right impression and could really become something special.

Hoping Bailey falls to us at #4. I really like the idea of having 2 young scoring wings to build around for the future with Miller/Bailey.

Yeah maybe instead of thinking who is POA defender in a Melo- Miller- Ace- Miles- Mark lineup, maybe it’s more about us being the alpha and controlling the matchup narrative.

Because when we play Atlanta who does Trae guard? Before they could hide him on Josh Green in the corner but now what?

Same with Cleveland, who do Mitchell and Garland guard? Throw whoever Mitchell is guarding in the post and let them shoot over him.

Miami shouldn’t be able to guard that lineup if they start both Herro and Robinson. Especially if they are putting Wiggins or Highsmith on LaMelo. Miller and Ace should cook their matchups.

It’s also a lot easier to go small at the 5 with Grant or Salaun if you are playing Bailey and Miller as the two wings.

How switchable and big is a LaMelo- Miller-Ace- Salaun and Diabate lineup?

Ace can also play the 4 because he rebounds and blocks shots. Tre Mann- Miller- Okogie- Ace- Nurkic is just a fun lineup. Or you can play Mann- Ace- Miles- Grant-Mark.

A lot of lineup flexibility with Ace.

Does he give off better shooting Kelly Oubre Jr vibes to anyone?

I seem to remember Oubre only wanting to bomb threes

Me and Jmac finally like the same prospect. What a time to be ALIVE! :o

Count me in the I heart Ace club, jack. I'm not the king of prognosticators, but he might be the draft's biggest diamond in the rough. (And no, I will not include the final suit to complete this corny bit of wordplay for painfully obvious reasons). I'm still Ace, coin toss Tre/VJ.

thats a reasonable concern, probably what makes him available to us. if he had the court vision as well he would be in the harper tier

again why i cant pick a true favourite.

i think im VJ, Ace, Tre

with no daylight between them, still happy if we get any of them.
i will be nervous with Kon, upset with Malauch

Why is it that when Tre does this its just part of his profile but when Ace Bailey does this its part of his personality and he's labeled as immature and uncoachable?

One of them had Dylan Harper and a pretty good coach in Steve Pikiell and the other had Rodney Terry and Arthur Kaluma and little else.

Some context here, wondering why that part gets overlooked:

re: coach interview

I prefaced this by saying this has absolutely nothing to do with ace. i'd say this about literally any projected draft pick in any draft, ever. Listening to a coach be interviewed about one of their players that's about to be drafted is basically useless. No coach has ever said anything other than the most glowing incredibly positive things about one of their former players that's about to get drafted. whatever perceived weakness the player has it's because the coach didn't let them show it games, but they definitely showed it during practice. They're always the hardest worker on the team. always the best teammate. the first one to get to practice the last one to leave. Blah blah blah. You're never gonna get anything useful out of a coach leading up to draft day.

In other words. Future recruits I'll do my best to get you drafted as high as possible so commit to our program.

It's not weird when someone guaranteed you they will select you pretty high. Why waste everyone's time if you have a promise?

He's a likely top 5 pick lol
