So many posts and no mention of KPJ being quite willing and capable of setting up a lob. Starting him at PG completely alters the type of team we can build.

Re: Bucks News, Transactions, Trade Ideas
Horst was part of the franchise when Hammond gave John Salmons what was considered back then a lucrative pay raise after a heroic half season and it turned out to be a disaster. I don’t think Jon will want to make that same mistake his mentor did. I want KPJ back because his talent is undeniable and I think he could truly be a top notch starting guard in the league if his sole focus becomes being the absolute best basketball player he can be. That hasn’t been the case yet in his career and he’s still worth much closer to a prove it deal rather than a lucrative pay raise imo. 2+1 for 18m feels like a win win. He can opt out when Dames contract expires and if he’s proven he’s the real deal then he’ll be 27yrs old by then and he can get his 4/100 deal and ride out the rest of Giannis’s career with him in Milwaukee, maybe even win a chip and become a household name while he’s at it.
The risk of him reverting back to A. being a **** player and B. being a **** person is still too high and I’d imagine that’s a league wide consensus.

The bottom line with KPJ is that the Bucks can not afford not to pay him given their future assets. His potential is high on the court and at worst he is a good back up. I think he has the ability to be a slightly less explosive Donovan Mitchell. Will he? Who knows.

Yep. The ceiling is too tantalizing to not roll the dice.
(Boy, have I come a long way on KPJ)

There we go.. some momentum! love it.
Guys, even at 10M per season, you're talking about 6.5% of the cap. I know I'm guilty of it sometimes, but i think a lot of us are thinking about this money as it relates to a much older frame of reference. For example: When Tony Snell got that insane contract at 11M per year, that was almost 11% of the cap in that first year. Giving a guy who will worst case scenario be scoring and energy off the bench 6.% of your cap is really only a bad move if he just cannot play at all at some point. Even then, it's nowhere near a catastrophe.

Re: Bucks News, Transactions, Trade Ideas
Take away KPJ's volatility and you still have a consistently inefficient high volume shooter. His numbers for the Bucks were so out of whack for him that I attribute it to the Giannis factor. He elevates a lot of players. The question is whether we can count on that going forward.
So I agree that keeping him at a low cost is the right move. If you pay him at 10 million, it would have to be for one year only with a team option for a second year.
I go back to Horst's new found love of perceived athletic players from Marjon to AJJ to AJ Johnson to Kuzma to Sims to KPJ.The difference is KPJ also has bball skills, unlike the others.

The impressive thing KPJ did was that he played well and held the Bucks together leading a lot of non Giannis lineups.
No one will admit it, but the Doc and the Bucks culture got the most out of KPJ. KPJ made a pretty big mistake not signing here before the season, and I think he recognizes it now.

KPJ is a higher priority for me than Trent. We’ve proven lately that shooting can be a cheap commodity - Trent, Beasley, AJ Green, Grayson, Merrill. I expect that to continue with Giannis.
What KPJ offers is much harder to find.

Bucks shouldn’t go more than 2/$20 for KPJ. I don’t see anymore potential there. He is what he is, one of those guys who can go nuclear one night and disappear the next.
They also need to weigh who else is available in the free agent market to use those dollars on.

Or go nuclear in the bad sense.

Is Brandon Jennings a bad comp for KPJ?

Re: Bucks News, Transactions, Trade Ideas
Why can't we just tell KPJ to bring his biggest written offer to the Bucks & we'll probably match it +1$? I don't think he will/should get more than around 5 cuz of the myriad of issues. But for us I'd probably match 10. And he should want to take our +1 for a starting chance + proof of concept.

I couldn’t agree more about “cheap commodity” and of the rare opportunity for the Bucks to find a high upside player. Bucks are likely to regret heavily if they fail to keep kpj.

It's not too far off. But I think so because KPJs length and ability to ball hawk is pretty unreal. He's just a bit bigger than Jennings was and even though they averaged career steals right at the same, I think KPJ is better at that. And I think Jennings was even more inconsistent.

They're both lead guards with noisy outside shot mechanics and boisterous personalities, I don't think the comparisons extend much beyond that.

Seeing a lot of people wanting a Brogdon reunion - do we not remember the blinders that guy had on when running fast breaks with Giannis? No thanks.
I'll take Schroder tho
