i don't think he gets the job. it's too extreme a change in the opposite direction. they need someone who will be a happy medium.
Yea, that was what I noticed too. But it is still a lot of drive and kick, which is Jalen's game.
Plus it could still generate open looks for KAT without a screen, which KAT seems allergic too.
I wouldn't get overly hung up on this if they consider Jenkins though. I think whoever they hire will collaborate and they will build a staff around the roster, not the roster around whatever the coach did before.
i think the best version of jalen is an iso player as much as people don't like it. and i think getting the best version of him should continue to be priority number 1. he's very successful playing this way. he looks at a screen and mostly sees a way to create a split second of separation and not as a tool to find an open teammate. he does that out of desperation mostly. and i wouldn't change it much. i never thought to myself this was one of their bigger problems.
I don't think Jalen's isolation game is the issue either, it just needs to come in the flow of the offense. We lacked balance.
Last 5 minutes of the 4th quarter I want Brunson with the ball in his hands.

Pair him with Bryant. This guy isnt a my way or highway guy and is willing to work with his staff. Thats a GOOD thing.
Not my first choice (Kidd) but it could absolutely work too.
Why would Bryant come from Cleveland to New York for a lateral move? He's not going anywhere unless he's offered the HC position.

6. Sounds like Jenkins has a lot of question marks. The major thing is locker room management Mike Brown is more favorited. The front office like a lot about him.
7. Kris Pursianen - The FO told thibs during the Celtics series to use different lineups outside of the starting lineup to get ready for the Pacers series and he refused. They bascially wanted to replace Hart in the starting lineup, and told Thibs he will be safe if it didn't work. He still refused to try something different until it was too late. This goes back to Jay Will saying that Leon and Thibs had tension on the sideline during the playoffs. So now they're looking for a coach that's more flexible and can make adjustments.
Mike Brown would be a disgraceful hire.
Brown isn't my top choice but he has a good resume. He turned around Sacramento which is nearly impossible and was Kerr's top assistant during those Warrior championships. He has a winning percentage of .600 which is really good.
Who would you like to see us hire?

The Sacramento King stop has some encouraging things (on offense specifically), but I prefer if we didn't hire Mike Brown

Also, if it helps, Jalen doesn't even like pick and rolls like that.
I don't think kat does either. Lord knows he doesn't like setting picks.
Which is so weird to me because he's the size of a truck. If I was big as he is I'd make guards fear getting screened by me

Let me get this straight...we didn't like Thibs because he wouldn't let assistants help him with the system and game plan but we also now criticize a potential coach candidate because he does?

Maybe maybe not. Depending on the Head coach we hire, he may feel its a better fit for him.

Why? I like him based on vibes and post game press conferences etc - seems like an incredibly smart basketball mind.
Coaching is a lot more than that obviously - managing the players egos, motivating them, the systems ran on offense/defense - rotations, in game adjustments, etc etc
But from what little I know about him - I don't see why he would be a disaster.
Yes. Let's hire the rah rah guy from the Grizzlies. That worked out well in the past.
But does he have a 'take that for data' viral moment? This is the crucial point.

Re: Official Knicks Coaching Search Thread pt. 2
Mike Brown and Kidd seem to be the top two....Kidd has to get out of Dallas though which is far from a guarantee....
According to James L. Edwards III of The Athletic, "the Knicks’ pursuit might not stop with the official denial of permission." It has been reported that there is mutual interest between Kidd and the Knicks regarding their head coach vacancy, and plainly, that may be the one thing that keeps these rumors going deep into the offseason.

explain
Coached 4 teams (Cleveland twice) in 11 seasons.
His offense sets are ass.
His defensive coaching is worse than Thibs.
He's a soft presence.
He hasn't had any sustained playoff success since 2007.
devil's advocate:
His 1st go around in CLE was just Lebron, and no supporting talent, they weren't championship caliber teams. and he still made playoff runs each year, never 1 and done in CLE
Lakers situation wasn't ideal. Still had decent success his first year, made it to Conf. semi's which was where they had finished previous year under Phil Jackson, and it was the lockout year too, which must've been especially difficult for a HC with a new team. fired because clash of personalities which is unfortunately all too common in the NBA (rather than performance based)
his 2nd go around in CLE, what was expected? took over a terrible team that used the #1 pick on Anthony Bennett. and given that Lebron was about to return they wanted a different HC, rather than someone he already played for. Could he have had success in CLE again? Probably, they loaded up that roster once Lebron returned w/ way more talent than he had his 1st time. but he was the victim of circumstances
He then went to the GS bench for 6 seasons and learned offense in a new light and developed immensely as a coach. after arriving as a defensive-minded HC in the NBA, he evolved.
In terms of defensive rating, he improved from year 1 in SAC to year 2: 24th to 14th which isn't bad considering the personnel he had, he didn't have a guy like OG
As long as Brunson and KAT are paired, we'll likely never be an elite defensive team, but if we can be good enough + maximize their offensive talent (which Mike Brown has done with Fox/Sabonis pairing), it can offset the lack of elite defense at 2 spots
also Mike Brown has a .556 winning % in the playoffs, only getting bounced in the 1st once

Let's also consider the Knicks FO spent two good assets in RJ and IQ for OG and now pay him 40+ million per year and that might inform their desire for Thibs not to be playing OG 38 mpg and deep into blowouts.
