If Brogdon wants to come back here for the minimum I'd actually love that. Would be fine with Tyus on a minimum too, but he's just a regular season depth guy at this point. Don't understand the continued fascination with Schroder. There's a reason he's bounced around with 8 different teams in the last 4 seasons and it's not for the same reasons Brogdon's been passed around (contract, durability). Not to mention Giannis kinda low-key hates the dude.

Yeah, no thanks on Brogdon. He was a good Buck and all but his better days are already behind him. We don’t need any dudes with extensive injury histories like that.

To me, it feels like Schroder has been destined to become a buck for quite some time now. That list concerns me a little though. If they come cheap enough, that’s fine, but if they are our main acquisition, I think the org picked the wrong direction to go.

It doesn’t mean they wouldn’t make the other necessary changes - cheap shooters, including one with size, figuring out the big situation, etc. - but those being the first players we’re linked to has raised some flags for me.

Bigs and wings I think are the most important questions to answer this summer.

Is this from intel or speculation by ol' Windbag?

- No interest in Brogdon. He was a good player here, but is passed it now, & not what we need.
- I'm indifferent on Tyus Jones. Fine I guess if it's a vet min & he's not the projected starter.
- Schroder is a good fallback if we strike out on KPJ. He just wants to go somewhere where he's comfortable wearing lederhosen.

All pure speculation. It seems like, for the first time in forever, the Bucks actually have a plan of the type of team they want to build, as a these guys aren't it. Maybe Schroder, but not Brogdon or Jones.

Supposedly doc is going to be on Nicole Wallace's (msnbc) podcast Monday and can't wait for the average Wisconsinites reaction.

that's about the nicest way you could have responded to that.

guys, players like Ramon Sessions, Brandon Jennings and John Salmons are terrible comparisons to a guy like KPJ. All you're thinking about is the scoring and athleticism. KPJ has flashed the ability to do almost everything you could conceivably hope for out of a combo guard. The knock so far is the consistency but that is to be expected given the circumstances he found himself in (or caused if you prefer). If he wants it bad enough, he is still young enough to put everything together and become one hell of a player.

Shooting is not a cheap commodity, unless you define shooting as a standstill shooter who can't shoot any other shot (Prince).

It's why a guy like Kneuppel is so highly coveted, despite limited athleticism.

Don't lump Trent and AJ Green with the rest of the guys you mentioned. Green can shoot on the move, as can Trent. KPJ was
mediocre in his career until the last quarter of last season. Was he worth Marjon-yes. But he may be on a long list of coveted athletes with potential that this board has always adored and then are disappointed in.

I don't think it's that complicated. You want the dude back because he's pretty much the exact kind of distressed asset you have to retain because of age/positional need, but we're also kind of collectively overrating the "still untapped potential" of a guy who was in the same draft class as Cam Johnson and Jordan Poole. These guys largely are who they are once they have 5+ pro seasons under their belt. If he's matured and finds a great role here, I'd have no issue giving him that multi-year extension next offseason like we did with Bobby.

Cam Johnson is 4 yrs older & didn't have his own gap yr. That also led to having to start back on the ground floor. How much potential does he even need to untap if, w/ us, he averaged an efficient 21/7/7 per 36 w/ plus-defense?

Seems he might just have to play more again, like in '22-23 when he averaged 19/6/5 on OK efficiency as a 22 yr old. That's already a low-level core guy. And most players indeed do get better after 22. At 23-24, from SGA's 4th to 5th season, he went from 24 pts to 31 on much better efficiency.

Scouts who understand athletism is more than just vertical leap appreciate the physical gifts of players like Kneuppal and Middleton. Kon, like Khris, is a playmaker. They both rebound better than their high flying counterparts. They can both guard someone.

What makes Green and KPJ valuable is their combination of 3 point shooting and defense. Trent isn't great defensively, but he's better than many of the games shooters.

Complete players are the key to winning in the playoffs.

I applaud the growth of this board. No one has pined for the player from Denver who's declining his player option. Nice work!

Why is “PG” such a high priority for free agency? Shouldn’t we be more focused on giving Rollins the minutes someone like Brogdon, Schroeder or Jones would get? I sure hope those 3 aren’t potential KPJ replacements because we’re in serious trouble if that’s part of Doc and Jon’s master plan. We need wings…

I mean, this is why I'm cool with a Brogdon reunion. He can play either guard spot. Schroder and Jones can't. This team is gonna need more than two mostly unproven guys that can functionally handle the ball/play-make anyways. Buckle up for disappointment though, because it's yet another source that's heavily implying the organization is telling us not to expect much:

General Manager Jon Horst and head coach Doc Rivers have presented ownership with plans to maintain the team's core around Antetokounmpo. The franchise believes it can compete as a top-six Eastern Conference team, particularly if Damian Lillard returns healthy for the playoffs.

Milwaukee faces critical financial decisions regarding Brook Lopez's free agency and Bobby Portis's $13.4 million player option. These moves will significantly impact the team's payroll structure and competitive positioning moving forward.

Sources indicate the Bucks are prepared to enter the luxury tax again after paying over $200 million in penalties during recent seasons. The organization plans to keep its payroll below the $196 million first apron threshold to maintain access to more of the $14 million midlevel exception.

I like Russ and think he’s probably worth the vet min but ain’t no way with Doc as coach. Can already see him out there with Kuzma… :noway:

I’d like all 3 back if it was possible, Green/KPJ/Trent. Trent is probably the odd man out as KPJ is valuable as a ballhandler and can actually create some separation.

Can’t we do better than Brogdon tho? I don’t understand that at all. Hes pretty much the opposite of the type of player we excelled with last year not mention dude never plays. Milwaukee, Indiana, Boston, Washington it’s been the same song and dance with his injury history not to mention overall regression. If the main plan is running it back with last years crew with the addition of a Malcom Brogdon, yeah I’ll be highly/insanely disappointed.

But on the contrary, if Brogdon is a vet min guy then I have no real issue I guess. I’m not gonna be a real big fan of any lackluster free agent off the street that’s going to come in and take minutes away from Rollins tho. He’s a peacock, captain. You gotta let him fly!

Why is it disappointing that we want to use the MLE (and BAE)?
