2025 Draft prospects - thread 3

Watched a draft show today. Can't credit their sources, and they emphasized these are rumored offers for Coby White:

Orlando: Built around 16th pick and Cole Anthony
Mavericks: Future first and one of Lively, Gafford, Washington (trade we've been speculating for awhile)
GS Warriors: Kuminga plus Moody and future draft capital (assume Vucevic goes in that trade too)

Will be shocked if Coby gets traded for anything less than a massive overpay.

I think they value Coby very highly here, so I agree. I think Lively is kind of slept on because he's missed so many games and they have Gafford and now AD. He's missed a bunch of games, but at 20 yrs old his per 36 last year: 14pts, 12 rbs, 70% FG, 2.4 blocks, .9 steals with a DBPM of 2.2. We get him, keep him healthy and locked up, we could be done looking for centers for the next 10-15 years.

Think he's going to be the better version of Nic Claxton. More athletic IMO, rim running center who's active and can play both man and help defense, and block shots. All around defensive threat who eats off screens and running.

Vecenie is very high on Beringer. Sees him going 10-15. Also high on Kalkbrenner.

i've done a little more research into beringer and my takeaway is that he wouldn't necessarily be a bad pick at 12, but i'd really be a lot more comfortable with drafting him if we had more than one first-round pick.

i like his general profile and really like taking a guy who's come a long way in a short time after picking up the game late in life, but i just feel like there isn't really the realistic upside potential that totally justifies the level of risk you're taking on. i could see him becoming a plus starting center, but i dunno if i see a path to him becoming anything more than that, and i also think there's a really good chance he just ends up as a depth big

I'd take the safer pick which is Kalkbrenner, but on a trade down. Kalkbrenner is a legit "5", with a well rounded game. I view Beringer as a developmental 4/5. Kalkbrener could probably play almost immediately being older with more experience. With Beringer you're probably not going to get even rotation minutes until his 2nd year, if you're lucky. Now taking Beringer with a high 2nd round pick, if we could acquire one, would be attractive. We could leave him in Europe to play another year while retaining his rights. Then bring him over and sign him with a little more experience under him. He did get into basketball late. Another year playing in Europe where he'd more likely to get meaningful minutes would be a better path for him.

Good points; however, I don't think AK is as smart as you. He'll keep Coby almost no matter what. I think he'd turn down Lively. I think he'd turn down 2 non-lotto firsts. I think he'd turn down the #5 pick.

Its hard to imagine AK having the balls or creativity to trade a currently impactful player rather than just doing the "safe" thing and keeping him, especially on draft day rather than at the deadline with more time to evaluate. So yes, it would likely require a massive overpay to bet AK to bite. And though I believe Coby is a valuable player for Chicago and provides things we CURRENTLY need, I do worry about the long term fit if I understand what the plan is for the future roster. Which I probably don't.

One of my top players in this draft. Would be absolute steal at 45.

Still hoping, with all the trade rumors the Bulls are involved in, we are able keep a 12-16 range pick, add a 20-30, and keep 45 if not move up in the 2nd round to the 30's.

6'11" barefoot, 234 pounds, 7'4.5" wingspan, and a 9'3" standing reach

If you like athletic centers chances are you like Beringer.

I've been a fan at times during the lead up to the draft. His ability to run the floor and be a vertical spacer would be a new addition to our roster.

I also feel like if that's what you like you could always just sign a free agent like Deandre Jordan, Jaxson Hayes, Jericho Sims, Christian Koloko, or Kai Jones

The player archetype is sort of readily available

Is it just me or are others now firmly of the belief that:

1) There will be at least 1 starting-caliber/high impact player available when we draft at #12, and
2) That AK will draft someone who is another Terry-caliber player (i.e. too flawed to get off the bench on a good team)

IMO, the only thing that can save us is if someone unexpected drops and AK has no choice, like Matas did.

Haven't heard this name in a while, but Noah Penda reminds me of Nocioni.

I’ve been a big fan of Penda. Think he’s better than Drake now but Drake will be better in a few years. Drake with the higher ceiling but Penda the higher floor. He’s like a stronger Boris Diaw. Excellent defender.
