Remember, the Heat are among the 'top 3' teams in the bidding according to Shams, and Vegas thinks so too. Why would the Heat be offering Jovic and Highsmith, and getting traction, if the Wolves were already offering Gobert and DDV? The Heat can't beat that, and wouldn't even be part of the talks anymore.

Once the Heat add Ware-and they will, it'll Trump any non Castle/#2 offer the Spurs put forth.

Spurs will need to step it up if you want him IMO. The Keldon Johnson/Barnes/#14 poop platter won't get it done, I'll bet.

Do you honestly think there was ever any prospect of the Spurs trading #2 or Castle for a 37 yr old KD?

Spurs are not finalists so the answer is no. Also we are not going to accept Randle from the Wolves IMO.

Finally.

Spurs are ripping the suns off. They always rip everyone off.

Shows how low self esteem we are when Sochan and Vassell are the peak of excitement

Gives me some hope about the FO

Sochan is backup SF/PF combo type. Vassell is also another backup 6th man type SG/SF on a good team.

Both wouldn't start on the top 10 teams, while KD is a top 14 player.

If the offers don't match what the suns want I would keep Durant.
The other teams can keep their trash.

Yup. Would rather run it back than accept crap offers from other teams.

Suns asked for Castle. Spurs said no.

Therefore we moved on to better offers.

Zero chance a young team like the Spurs are trading the #2 for KD as it doesn't fit the timeline.

Suns would be doing good to get #14 for KD with matching salaries.

If there are better offers you should definitely take them. It remains unclear that is the case. I certainly don't think Randle or Jovic/Jasquez is better.

That's a perfect deal for the Suns but the Spurs get fleeced and I don't see them doing that trade especially trading #2.

Actually, this isn't really bad for the Spurs at all if they're not sold on Harper due to his shooting/ scoring struggles. I say this because in this premise, they're only moving back from #2 to # 8 and getting KD and Clowney. And most likely they'll be targeting Maluach. That way they could run an absurd lineup of 3 7 fters in the frontcourt:

Fox/ Castle/ Durant/ Wemby/ Maluach. And there not really giving up any key players that they weren't already going to give up in a KD trade anyways. Ultimately we'd just be sending pretty much the same players package to Brooklyn instead of taking those players ourselves.

The only real concession would be moving back from 2nd to 8th in the lottery. :dontknow:

Gambo said he does believe Spurs are in the back in KD discussions and doesn’t believe a deal could be done there without SA involving Castle or the second pick in the draft. He said he believes TWolves, Rockets and Heat are offering better packages than San Antonio.

Who would they play at C? Gobert is a huge part of their success.

If we could get Gobert that would make us significantly better as our defense would improve tremendously.

They're actually looking to trade Gobert and resign Reid for their center because he's not as offensively limited as Gobert. They're prioritizing more versatility and spacing at the center position. What I don't understand is why they don't just trade Gobert to Chicago for Vucevic and Ball?

Rumored trade had him going to Rockets though I don't think DColdest is legit.

TBH this draft isn't that great. #2 can be a bust, #8 can be a bust or reach for next star.

I think this is a great trade for all parties.

Not for the Spurs. I just don't see them trading #2 but who knows it depends how bad they want Durant. Castle makes Vassell expendable.

I love this trade for the Suns. Would love to have Cam back.

Spurs would be losing like close to 5 players in that trade and get one back with the 8th pick. They would have to be busy in the free agent market after this.

Again just don't see them giving up #2 which will be Harper.

Actually they're getting two players back in KD and Clowney (who's like a younger, cheaper Claxton). Also still keeping their 14th and 36th pick and would have upwards of $ 66 million for free agency after the trade due to the salaries being moved in the deal.

So essentially, they'd only need to add back 3 players from their 66 million in cap space. Plus whomever they'd add with the 8th pick, 14th pick and the 38th pick.

Suns defense would be better and Ishbia wants to win now

Still hoping that it’s the Rockets somehow

It sounds like he's carrying the FOs water. Nobody rational thinks either of those 2 things could ever have been on the table.

This feels completely surreal, like there's the mainstream sensible reporting of Jovic/Jasquez and picks, or maybe Randle, and then the Suns reporters throwing out stuff that is just off the wall absurd on behalf of the FO. I'm curious what fans here thought the KD trade would look like before you got him, and if you expected you'd need to throw all the stuff that you did into it.
