KD to Houston with Utah.

Post#1 » by Xman » Fri Jun 13, 2025 10:38 pm

I know, another kd version

Hou gets kd
Phx gets Sexton, Kessler, Collins, Sensabaugh, second best of 2027 phx/bkn/hou first.
Utah gets Whitmore JGreen, Landale, Holiday, 10

Utah gets green to rehabilitate (Markky 2.0), nice prospect in whitmore, filler and a lottery pick.

Phx adds multiple veterans.

Houston gets kd without losing anyone vital.
G. Start Amen/Vleet with Sheppard off bench.
F. KD/Brooks with Jabari and Eason.
C. Sengun with resigned Adams.

Serious question: what do you think the Suns' objective is in trading KD? What do you think they hope to accomplish?

The important thing is Houston's fans have all set their sites on a similar price, JGreen/Landale/Filler/10.

With this in mind, I am guessing the actual deal Houston does, if it gets done, is one more value piece going out.

Sub out Jabari Smith for Landale and add another 1 our of picks coming back.

That’s the Houston gets desperate price. Don’t think they are.

I think phx burned their bridges with KD. But, still want to win with Booker and no pick control.
I felt this version gave them depth and decent quality around Booker and Beal. Dunn, Sexton ,Collins and even Kessler are nba starters.

I added Whitmore and that second best 2027 first. Does that fill the gap?

I would do this, and I think it is actually a value-add for Phoenix since they get three guys who can start (Sexton is ideally a 6th man) instead of developing the 10th pick and getting redundant players. I think the value from Houston is fine, KD is 37. If they have to do much more than 10 + Whitmore + Green as the value they should walk away (and I recognize a lot of people have Green as a negative, but I think this is accurate even if that is true). Maybe they throw some seconds in, or maybe they get compensated for including Smith. TBF though, I don't see a huge need for Smith when Phoenix walks away with Collins who - at this moment (probably not in 2 years) is a better player.

If I'm single like KD and my current team is coordinating with me on destination because I can enter free agency after playing 1 year for my new team, I want South Beach.

And didn't the Rockets reportedly favor Booker? Even if Suns hold strong on Booker, Rockets will try to stay young.

Just my opinion.

KD to South Beach.
It has been written...

Right, and this is the other end of the spectrum.

Houston's End: JGreen/Landale/Filler/10
Phoenix's End: JGreen/JSmith/10/2027 PHX 1st

The reality is the trade will likely land somewhere in between.

I think the Jazz steer well clear of this.

Oh, I really like this variation, with some small changes:

Green, Landale, Holiday, #10, a good second
for
Sexton, Collins, Kessler, a really bad future first

FVV / Reed / Sexton
Brooks / Cam
Amen / Tari
Jabari / Collins
Sengun / Kessler / Adams

That depth! Tons of contract filler for trades. Good mix of youth and vets,

At that point, wouldn’t you rather just go after KD? Sexton and Kessler feel redundant as depth pieces, and using them that way isn’t maximizing their value.

No, in my opinion, they key to being consistently good in the current CBA is too lock up players on reasonable deals. Players need to be worth their contracts.

KD is not worth 53m to me, and he certainly isn't worth another 120m for the next two years.

If he was, the Suns wouldn't be trading him.
