Was Game 4 rigged for OKC?
I'm seeing a lot of comments in the game thread that suggest the refs gave OKC the win in Game 4 through biased calls. Do you agree with this?
If you do agree with this, can you explain why the NBA chose to rig this game for OKC but didn't choose to rig a Finals match-up which didn't include two of the smallest markets in the league? They could have had America's top market in the Finals but let Indiana in instead?

No, but some people got completely mad about OKC and officiating, so they'll run narratives no matter what at this point.
Pretty even officiating (I'm not supporting any of these teams), both teams were at +30 FTAs prior to intentional/off-ball fouls.

Definitely rigged, SGA was living at the line the whole game. Apart from the first 44 minutes, where he shot 2 FTs in total, obviously, but who cares about such a tiny portion of the game.

The refs did just enough to make sure the series is tied up 2-2. Mission accomplished.

Re: Was Game 4 rigged for OKC?
No, it wasn't rigged, many correct calls in Pacers faviur could have easily been overlooked if refs wanted to fix the outcome, but even if people claim it was rigged based on obvious officiating wrong calls, it's not on them to find out the motives.
If the evidence points at something, it's not the viewer job to go find motives for it, but the league to investigate, this asinine notion that you must point out the bias and explain the motive is how Donaghy wasn't investigated by the league but by the FBI because of gambling and his bad calls didn't trigger a league invesigation.

No, it's not rigged.
People saying so are just salty. Probably mad OKC eliminated their team.

The conspiracy theorists always use the motive of commercial gain to explain why the NBA would rig something. Because without motive one can simply say it was just bad calls and there would be no reason not to believe that since without motive there's no reason for them to rig anything anyway. But if they're going to claim the NBA rigged this series for commercial gain and cannot explain why they didn't rig the series just before this one (when the motive was even more powerful and the means also available), their use of commercial gain as a motive for this alleged rigging makes no sense.

People are just scared and upset that if Shai gets a ring it’ll propel him over their guy. Luka stans in particular are mad at that

The Thunder’s “historic” defense is really just trash fouling all game. And they rely on the refs to bail them out time and time again. No one likes a dirty team.

That's interesting considering Luka has never won an MVP. Maybe you're in your own thoughts.MoneyMo wrote:People are just scared and upset that if Shai gets a ring it’ll propel him over their guy. Luka stans in particular are mad at that

Still a pretty good whistle for a guy whose primary move is a foul.

The Thunder controlled their destiny. Shai at least tried to go to the paint and actually MADE his FTs. The Pacers couldn't even get the ball near the rim in their sets the last 5 minutes.
Mathurin and Neismith choked with the fouls and free throws. You can't rig missed FTs.

Re: Was Game 4 rigged for OKC?
There were a couple of really questionable calls that they got, but that was expected given the extra leash they've gotten all season long. But didn't seem rigged, they gutted out that comeback.

Re: Was Game 4 rigged for OKC?
I was pretty mad about a lot of 1st half calls that seemed to favor OKC. I'm a Pacer fan so marginal calls are going really stand out to me. It seemed that if not for calls the lead would have been much bigger at the half.
It's hard for a huge fan of one team to not feel a little cheated. There seemed a lot more neutral fans thought the Pacers were getting the short end. I'm sure OKC fans thought the officiating was great, since they won.
If in game 6 the Pacers get tons of calls (assuming we aren't closing it out) and it goes to game 7. I'll come on here and gladly admit we got some help.

Scott Foster no called SGA traveling but the Pacers need to do better. The three ball didn't fall for OKC so they worked the Pacers in the paint.

Re: Was Game 4 rigged for OKC?
As Bill Simmons would say, it was "massaged". The NBA has a clear motive for the finals to go as many games as possible. They arent going to outright rig it but they have no problem making it much harder for one team to win than the other team. In a fairly called game OKC would have been getting blown out by halftime, OKC had one made three at halftime and only three made 3s for the entire game, thats unheard of for any team to win an NBA finals game on the road in the modern age while shooting that poorly. 99.9% of the time that game would be a blowout

No. The Pacers choked their chance of taking absolute control this series. After all the hard work (that resulted in 2 impressive wins) it looks like this series is over.

It's really not unheard of.
OKC dominated Indy in the paint, on the boards, and OKC only missed four free throws (34-38). Pacers shot 25-33 from the line.
There is more to basketball than making three pointers and OKC just proved it to you. You seem to have a difficult time grasping that.

You know the answer when one of the refs is Scott Foster
