Kyle Lowry Likely To Return To Sixers Next Season

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Jun 14, 2025 5:54 pm

Guard Kyle Lowry is likely to return to the Philadelphia 76ers for next season. The Sixers consider Lowry an ideal veteran mentor for young guards Tyrese Maxey and Jared McCain.

The upcoming season would be Lowry's 20th in the NBA. The veteran point guard is an unrestricted free agent, after spending last season with Philadelphia on a veteran minimum contract. In 35 games, Lowry averaged 3.9 points and 2.7 assists in 18.8 minutes per game.

Retired NBA big man Blake Griffin recently suggested that Lowry could join him as part of the coverage team with Amazon. Lowry could still join Amazon as a sort of player correspondent, but no details have been finalized on that as of yet. The upcoming season will be the first for Amazon as an NBA media partner.

Several teams would like to have him but PHI is one of the few teams that will give him significant minutes.

I think he’s pretty close to done getting minutes anywhere, think he’s just a Philly guy who wants to be home in his career twilight.

You're right, but PHI has no depth and very little resources to solve that issue.

Got Maxey, McCain, and Jared Butler around (and probably Grimes in a pinch), and I’d assume Morey will go hunting for a vet min guy looking for minutes.

Maybe you’re right that Lowry might end up with some more minutes here and there than on other teams. But I really don’t think that’ll be the plan heading into the season.

We should hope not. I actually forgot about McCain... looking forward to his return!
