Re: NBA Trade Thread #12
Per wiretap, the Sixers have discussed moving up to no. 2 with the Spurs. May have to change your trade proposals guys.
Here to argue about nonsensical things and suck away your joy.

Other than Coby and maybe Ball, Smith or Huerter, who else is a guy who, as a GM, you would both want and think might be available in trade?
AK, has asked every GM in the league about Vuc, twice...nobody is signing up for that sh*t. Much less giving up a 1st.
I can't imagine anyone asking about Ayo (coming off surgery), Carter, Terry, PWill, Phillips, Collins (who couldn't beat Vuc out for the job).
Coby, Ball, Huerter, Collins, Ayo, 12, future picks are all decent trade chips. Its an all time bad FA class so trade activity should be high. Maybe a trade up or down from 12. Its not like we have absolutely nothing to work with.
I’m sure things will pick up and something will get done, but just saying as of now, you hear general rumors around the league on what teams are trying to accomplish. The company line after the trade deadline was AK did a lot of groundwork on trade paths for this summer.
Even on NBA podcasts (Simmons, Lowe, Rusillo, KOC, etc) they discuss NBA offseason and moves teams will make, not a peep about the irrelevant Bulls. The only whisper thats been mentioned was a Vuc/plus package for Sabonis, half jokingly
Expiring contract role players, a player that will soon get a raise (Coby), a decent player who can't stay healthy (Ball), a late lottery pick and a pick that's protected 1-14 through 2028.
That has value, but it's not something I think most teams will be very excited about.

Maxey, Embiid, Harper, and PG13? Is there enough ball to go around? McCain and Grimes will be wanting some shots as well.
Is anyone going to play a lick of D or are they all hunting for shots? They were the 5th worst D in the league.

I think you just try to figure it out. Maybe sign a player or two who are known for defense to round out the bench?
I wouldn't trade up if I'm Philly unless the cost isn't high. What do they have to offer? #3 plus...? A 2028 Clippers pick and/or a Philly pick in 2031? McCain?

AK hasn't gotten back from his sabbatical.
He'll start scouting the draft next week.

Saw this. I don't hate it.
JMcD makes too much.
Moore reported Bulls called about Zo for NAW. He needs to be resigned though. IMO he’s too much like Ayo.

Nah. I’d rather keep Zo and use him for a bigger trade.
Zo and filler for Naz I’d be down with.

Isn't McDaniels just Patrick Williams but a worse 3 point shooter who's paid more?

This would be able absolute no brainer move for the Bulls. No way this is on the table.

McDaniels is the wing defensive anchor for a team that has gone to the WCF two years in a row. If Patrick Williams is good enough to do that, his contract is a steal.

He's made an all NBA defensive 2nd team once. I'm not sure I'd call him an anchor, he definitely is a very good defensive player, I don't doubt that, but he's definitely overpaid.
Pat's best team mates have been Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic.
Jaden's best team mates have been Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Edwards and Rudy Gobert (a multiple DPOY).
That's the difference as to why Jaden's team has been to 2 straight WCFs and Pat's has been to 3 straight play-in tournaments.
Here to argue about nonsensical things and suck away your joy.

Other than Edwards, McDaniels is the only guy to play crunch time minutes the entire time. KAT was traded and Rudy gets played off the floor. At 25 million a year, to get a 25 year old who can be the 2nd leading minutes guy on a conference finals team seems pretty impressive.
According to reports, he's untouchable in Durant trades. So his team thinks pretty highly of him. https://www.si.com/nba/timberwolves/minnesota-timberwolves-rumors/reports-jaden-mcdaniels-not-expected-to-be-involved-in-wolves-durant-talks
Defensive wings get paid.
PWill got 18 million.
Nemhard got 19 million.
Caruso got 20 million.
Suggs 30 million.
The idea that the Bulls wouldn't trade a guy who played 70 games in 4 years for a 25 year old who was in the WCF two years in a row as his team's 2nd leading minutes guy is incredible. Insinuating he's basically Pat Williams seems pretty extreme.

Re: NBA Trade Thread #12
Shams Charania
The Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets are 15-time All-Star Kevin Durant's preferred trade destinations out of Phoenix, sources tell ESPN. Those across the NBA have been made aware in recent days that those are the three teams that Durant would commit to long-term.
So that's the list.
I'm guessing he goes to Houston, because I don't think Miami has better assets than Houston.
Media is reporting San Antonio is dropping out of the trade negotiations so that doesn't look like an option.

If he's untouchable for Durant then I don't think he'd be traded for Lonzo and a future 2nd round pick, which was the initial report/speculation.
I get that McDaniels is meant to be (and likely is) a superior defender than PWill, and you're right I was probably too extreme comparing the two. But their stats aren't that far apart.
I still think he's overpaid and all those other players mentioned (especially Suggs) are also overpaid, IMO.
Don't get me wrong, I like McDaniels the player, I just don't like his contract.

Re: NBA Trade Thread #12
If MINN ends up with a 'powerful backcourt' then a FRP and a young player with potential has to be the price. Don't claim how much of a difference Lonzo makes and then refuse to pay for him. I still have serious doubts any team is going to either offer to give up much or count on Ball after he he barely showed up after being out for 3+ years, plenty of other smaller risks to take. I think he resigned with the Bulls to stay because they told him they wanted him to be around. Yes that's in stark opposition to almost everyone around here who just see a $10M trade piece.

McDaniels isnt realistic. Donte’s not a bad option here. What about Terrence Shannon Jr? A Chicago kid who really flashed in limited playoff minutes vs OKC. Was dinged in last years draft by false rape charges, proven innocent, otherwise he definitely wouldve gone higher than 27th. I would LOVE to see it.
