Clark is a talented basketball player that brings a showmanship to the game that is highly appealing for any basketball fan.
But she is also a symbol for women’s sports, and for being classy off-the-court while being a competitor (as a woman) on it.
This has led to her appeal that has made her a star in popular culture, reaching more people and transcending her sport.

She is very entertaining, that 9-0 spark she produced today are things only special players do. Looked exactly like curry or lillard when they get hot.

I love how people just say she is classy. Is she really classier than any of the other players? People act like they know her or something.

Look into her, if you disagree - examples are everywhere. Her popularity has her all over the internet.
For example, when squawkbox Angel Reese fouled her with a shot to the head and face, the media wanted to demonize Reese forkt. Clark could simply have kept her mouth shut and said nothing, but she went out of her way to say it was a basketball play, and sometimes that happens in basketball. That’s what a basketball player says, not someone who wants to talk about all the petty jealousies she’s faced by many WNBA players.

Most superstars have a perception of "classiness" to them, regardless of their real-life personalities, who we, as fans, may never truly know. Magic was classy, Jordan was classy, Kobe, for a period, was classy, yes, LeBron is classy.
Someone made a point earlier here, that Ant, with his public persona and personal life, might never be seen as a true superstar because he lacks that element of class.

I think that in an era where everyone has a cell phone, and there are a million outlets for social media, it’s almost impossible to get away with any moment or improper behavior, like the people you mentioned from previous eras. Ant makes a gay slur, and the world knows about it within the hour, and a section of today’s society rushes in to condemn him.
You never see that with Clark.

I agree, but for Ant, he doesn’t need anyone reporting on his improprieties when he commits them on live national television.

Are we also forgetting that Clark was a trash talker in college? Was that classy? Most players in the WNBA haven't even mention Clark. Most WNBA players are just minding their own business. I don't see anyone calling them classy. I always found it amusing Clark fans are scare to death Clark doesn't have a classy image or something. It is ok, a lot of athletes are popular and not classy.

Jordan was a known gambler and he punched his teammate. Kobe literally said "don't mention Ray Allen and I in the same sentence." Lebron was criticized for saying the people who hate him have the same personal problems waking up the next day.
I grew up with Kobe, and the general consensus was that he was cocky as hell. Iverson was too. And that is ok. Conor McGregor was one of the biggest stars in MMA and he was anything but classy. Some of the most popular stars in the world are not classy.
This is why I found it amusing Clark fans are obsesses with painting her as a classy person. They literally act like they know her personally and even though we know she talked trash in college, they insist she is a very classy person.

Umm .. Kobe literally raped a woman.
That’s by far the worst of any of them.

I’ve yet to see her take a cheap shot in an interview or make it about her. As professional and classy as it gets in that regard; a true ambassador to the sport.
But honestly let’s not get hung up on a word. It’s silly.

A lot of athletes don't take cheap shots at others. Like that is not unique. Are they all ambassadors? And it is not really about a the word, it is about her fanbase desperate to paint a narrative about her for some reason. She is probably no more classy or less classy than your typical player. Just let her be.

Hilarious how upset her haters get when anyone pays her even a mild compliment.
I bet if someone commented that Clark is pretty good at basketball, someone would respond with, “Lots of players are pretty good at basketball, but I’ve never heard you say anything about them. I wonder why that is?? So Clark is the only one good at basketball now???
And how do you even know she’s good at basketball? Have you played her one on one??”
"I'd rather have Kevin Love spacing out to the three point line than anything (Karl) Malone brings"

Not a Clark hater. I always say, Clark is an amazing player. She has one of the worst fanbase in the world. But that is not on her.

Umm. He was never convicted. Innocent, until proven guilty. You don't know, I don't know. To talk in absolutes about something like this is despicable.

Kobe’s own words:
First, I want to apologize directly to the young woman involved in this incident. I want to apologize to her for my behavior that night and for the consequences she has suffered in the past year. Although this year has been incredibly difficult for me personally, I can only imagine the pain she has had to endure. I also want to apologize to her parents and family members, and to my family and friends and supporters, and to the citizens of Eagle, Colorado.
I also want to make it clear that I do not question the motives of this young woman. No money has been paid to this woman. She has agreed that this statement will not be used against me in the civil case. Although I truly believe this encounter between us was consensual, I recognize now that she did not and does not view this incident the same way I did. After months of reviewing discovery, listening to her attorney, and even her testimony in person, I now understand how she feels that she did not consent to this encounter.
I issue this statement today fully aware that while one part of this case ends today, another remains. I understand that the civil case against me will go forward. That part of this case will be decided by and between the parties directly involved in the incident and will no longer be a financial or emotional drain on the citizens of the state of Colorado.
Unless Kobe himself is lying about raping her, forced sex without consent is exactly the definition of rape.
I’d have let you slide in ignorance or delusion, but it was ironic for you to target me as the “despicable” one here.
