The fact that we're in ongoing conversations to acquire Kevin Wayne Durant shows that Masai wants to go ALL IN on securing our 2nd NBA Championship next season. Esp with the Celtics becoming irrelevant and the Pacers as the team to beat in the Eastern Conference

Do they have the opportunity to make more moves? KD, Bam, Herro, meh.

This reminds me of the 2018 Kawhi rumours.

And wtf does that random "insider" mean about KD not convinced about Minnesota on and off the court?

except the 2018 team was already good.

then you have to make the deal, right?

Give up Jakob and #9 plus. Nah, I pass.

He's not washed. He's holding steady on the shoreline while the waves pummel him. Not washed but heavily weathered. Bad fit.

edit: unless on the cheap of course. as a KD fan I want him to join a contender

I don't think Masai does this unless its for cheap or he really wants to make a run no matter what

I think this is the most we would go. We are not giving up #9 for 1 yr of KD
ur basically swapping RJ and Agbaji for BI and KD ... super upgrade in talent but Alex Mckecknie would have to work overtime.

of course

Suns will not do it without 1-2 firsts included though.

Yes, the question is why would Phoenix even consider such a move? RJ Barrett isn't actually any good.

Change the pick to a top 10 protected 2027 pick or they can piss off. Who replaces Poeltl? Who's even our back up center at present lmfao.

I just don’t see this happening. He’s going to get moved, probably to Miami, where it makes sense as a one last hurrah type of thing. I just don’t think it makes as much sense here though, mostly because I just can’t see us moving Poeltl. You can’t easily just get a starting caliber center - look at how badly Phoenix struggled with that this year.

This also isn’t a Kawhi situation where the team was close and you could take that risk. That team was older, KD is older, and we’ve been bad for a few years now.

In the grand scheme of things getting KD is not really changing anything. He might have one or two more super great seasons left but I don't see any team he goes to winning a ring.

Funny how this might be the second time Jakob gets moved.

RJ = Derozan ( someone who wants to be in Toronto)
Jakob = Jakob again
First round pick
Dick.

I would definitely do this deal if I’m the Raptors. Can also see Phoenix interested in the Toronto deal cause it gives them assets to win now.

Don’t see what Miami offers that is enticing for them. Don’t they trade Ware and definitely no Bam. Miami wouldn’t want Herro.

How does Miami make sense? Are they a good team? Herro is overrated. Bam is nice but hardly a keystone player. Trade him to Houston and be done with it. Me thinks PHX wants too much.

I would be all over this if we had the same team we had for Kawhi. But this team just has way too many question marks to become a contender overnight. We would need a lot to go right even if we got KD.

Just doesn't seem like a trade the old Masai would do. Adding an old deprecating asset to a team with a lot of question marks.

Unless Masai decides to gut the team and trade everyone for pieces that fit the timeline of gunning for a ring in the next two years with KD.

Poeltl is basically an expiring as well. He’ll opt out and demand 25-30mil AAV next summer. Do we pay him that?

RJ’s value will also drop next season when he’s an expiring. Might as well capitalize right now.

Ideally want to trade Poeltl and RJ for a guy that comes with control though.

But I do believe KD would re-sign here. So fk it, bring him home.

as of today, teams with cap space in summer 26

nets $77 mil
memphis $5 mil

and that's it

next is atlanta who will be $22 mil over the cap

so any fear of losing a free agent outright, as of today, comes down to brooklyn and i dont see a kd reunion there.

if kd wants to leave then it will have to be via a s&t which means we will get *something* back.

If we go for Durant (which I'm open for it), there's literally no need for Ingram, and definitely have to trade him for better fitting pieces lol

What if Masai is really pushing for this KD trade to ultimately go after Giannis this summer?

If the reports are true about Giannis even being somewhat interested in Raptors and that he's waiting to see what the east landscape looks like in a month or so then the Raptors would be putting themselves in a position to trade for him and him wanting to be even more open to being here. I'm sure at that point both KD and Giannis would want to be here.

This would obviously most likely mean the end of Scotties time here but it is what it is.

That is wrong. Chicago, utah, Washington all have significant cap to name a few

Miami can get max space if they trade wiggins or Herro

Return to Toronto Raptors
