TOR/CLE/PHI/PHX - lots of big money
Toronto trades RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, Jakob Poeltl, Gradey Dick, #9, #39, 2028, 2030, 2032 1sts
Toronto receives Kevin Durant, Darius Garland, Andre Drummond
The Raptors have rumored interest in KD, but KD alone won't get them anywhere. The Raptors build a winner around a core of KD/Garland/Barnes/Ingram. Can they trust their bench?
Cleveland trades Darius Garland, 2028 1sts swap, 2030 1sts swap, 2032 1sts swap
Cleveland receives Immanuel Quickley, #3
The Cavs swap out Garland for their choice of VJ or Ace as well as a serviceable guard on a bad contract as a 6th man. Mitchell/VJ/Hunter/Mobley/Allen + Quickley/Strus/Okoro of the bench would be an incredibly balanced team.
Philly trades Paul George, Andre Drummond, #3, #35
Philly receives RJ Barrett, Jakob Poeltl, Grayson Allen, #9
The Sixers break Paul George and their pick into several useable pieces and build a team that might be able to actually survive an Embiid injury. Far from perfect, but gets them a foundation if they want to pursue an Embiid trade eventually, or just keep on chugging along with him playing half of every season.
Phoenix trades Kevin Durant, Grayson Allen
Phoenix receives Paul George, Gradey Dick, #35, #39, 2028, 2030, 2032 TOR 1sts
* 2028 - Suns would receive the best of 1) TOR or 2) worst out of UTA/CLE/ATL
* 2030 - Suns would receive the best of TOR/CLE
* 2032 - Suns would receive the best of TOR/CLE
The Suns get 3 "better of" 1sts, 2 top 40 2nds, and a former lotto prospect in Dick for [severely] downgrading KD to PG. They duck the second apron here as well. This is presumably followed by a Booker trade as well and the Suns bottom out.

assuming RJ/Poeltl/9 = KD, Toronto is not paying Dick + 3 unprotected 1sts to turn IQ into Garland.

I think the deal overvalues Durant and largely ignores what the Sixers plans are.

Agreed. This is truly a crazy overpay. IQ and Garland arguably have similar value. KD at his age and with his injury concerns just doesn't hold the value folks are giving him. RJ/9 may be as much as I would consider. Even then I am not completely sold on going after KD in the first place.

Re: TOR/CLE/PHI/PHX - lots of big money
Is this really the trade that the Raptors should be doing? Kevin Durant and Darius Garland isn't enough to make them a contending level team. Not to mention, they would have a major hole at this center position. This is also a overpay for both KD and Garland. Those Cavaliers swaps that the Raptors get hold no value, so may as well say that Garland is getting moved for the 3rd pick. Also, nobody is giving up 3 1st round pick and a quality young prospect for a old Kevin Durant.
Also the 76ers are not interested in moving down 6 spots to gain 3 fine, but not great role players just to get rid of PG contract. This is simply not a trade that's worth doing.

Too much for Toronto top try to gamble if Toronto gets Durant for anything resembling a RJ or Quickley plus #9 why go after Garland moving that many unprotected firsts plus Gradey and Poeltl

Best Toronto would put forward for Durant is RJ and Poeltl. The Suns need a young forward and a C. They'd have to keep 9th and hope Queen/Maluach would be enough at the 5 for them next season. Ideally they'd make a follow up trade to get that C using that 9th pick.

So the Sixers are building the foundation for an Embiid trade by moving from 3 to 9 and they're the one sending the extra pick out on top of it. I feel like that should be a sign there's a major problem with the logic involved.

There really isn't much a reason to go after Durant if it is going to cost Toronto their starting center. To hope a Queen/Maluach can come in and help a KD led team be relevant is just nonsense.

Cut the Cavs out of this. Zero interest in IQ on his deal. I can't believe you have them adding unprotected 1sts/swaps.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

Quickly and Garland do not have the same value.

I did not say same value. I said similar. Garland's stats are a bit better but not by much.

Garland is miles better than IQ. Garland is two time all star at 25. IQ does not have positive trade value right now. He was paid like a good starter and he hasn't been.

yeah, but similar is way off as well. “Garland has much more value the Quickley” is the correct phrase

I personally do not put a lot of stock in the all star argument. It's a glorified popularity contest. IQ had some bad luck injury wise. I saw enough to suggest they are not far off from each other. Miles better is simply not rational when looking at stats and watching the way each play. We will just have to agree to disagree on this.
