I wonder if we're part of the 6-8 other teams. It sounds like the Suns want a C in a trade. KAT for KD makes too much sense for both sides.

Teams that have gone for the multiple star player paths havent really faired as well as teams that are balanced with depth. The NBA cba has changed the way teams need to build. Boston does have multiple stars, but also a ton of depth and balance.

We'd have no caproom regardless. Trading for him, and he ends up leaving, would be an unmitigated disaster that you can't recover from.

That is the very risky part of it. And even if say you resign him to a big contract, that is also very risky given KDs age and injury history. Pretty much have to go all in on next year with KD. If things fall apart we dont have many of our future picks either

This is why I don’t see the Knicks trading for KD. If it goes wrong we are in a situation not that different from where the Bucks are.

In this scenario....The assumption is you are replacong him with JJJ and then Huk gets more minutes too

but why? Mikal matches JJJs contract 1 for 1 ....Mitch can come off the bench.

It could be just mainly for Bridges. But just like the KAT/Randle negotiations...sometimes the other team wants more or a certain player added. So just presenting a few ranges of what it could be....

Not willing to say 100% it wont happen. But It really doesn't make sense at all when you factor risk and possibly bad blood when he spurned us when he was 6 years younger. Lastly you lose his cap control and the extra cap money too as an over the 1st Apron team at end of year. It really doesn't make much sense at all.....

And of course their are probably 5 or 6 potential options that may come available that would make more short and ong term sense over this one. Bottom line I am not giving up 3 years control over a younger KAT for 1 year of a never know what hes thinking KD... if its Bridges/Mitch since they only has 1 year left....it makes it slightly better. However there are a few other potential options that are preferable.

Not that I disagree with you, but KD leaving and no Mikal resign (assuming the KD trade is got KAT), they'd be well under the 1st apron.

KD doesn't want the pressure. The Knicks aren't letting Mikal walk either. You don't trade 5 FRPs for a rental or future cap space. This scenario will never happen.

For a guy like JJJ or Giannis I think that would not apply. They absolutely would let Mikal be the bridge for a player like that.

I'd like to see some sort of deal where we get back a decent pick or two (cost-controlled players). Like Bridges to Orlando for Cole Anthony (to take pressure off JB) and one or 2 frp this year. But are the Knicks even scouting college players this year? :-?

Wow. Magic paid up for bane

Bane Franz Paolo.
I expect the pistons to make a move too at some point. The east is gonna get stronger. Knicks better figure out there coach and depth cause it’s not gonna be a cake walk to get back to the ECF

What a blown opportunity this year

No way...I love Bane and would have loved to have got him on this team. He is pretty much one of the most underrated do it all players in the league. He can ball handle, he can score. He can play defense. He can play 1-3 no problem. A JJJ/Bane combination is absolutely one of the few combinations I would have considered giving up KAT for.

I wonder if this is the only shakeup for the Grizz or does this set them up for a JJJ trade too?

I don’t want to ever hear of Mikal being an overpay after seeing that deal, two rotational pieces plus 5 firsts for Bane is significantly more

Edit: That’s even factoring the inner city price

Young, multiple years of cost controlled contract (under 40M). Orlando desperate for more offense. Its a good move.

Bane is a significantly better player. Super efficient and he’s 10x the playmaker Mikal is. Not even a bane fan but I’d rather overpay for him than Mikal every day.

Is it a teardown? Or a re-shuffling? I dunno but that offense they want to run now might run better with Bridges or do we convert Bridges into picks and then trade for JJJ? Before making that deal they probably had a very strong inkling of where they stand with JJJ.
