This is a terrible trade for both sides.

This is why I hate the cap. If the cap didn't exist, this trade wouldn't happen.

Memphis blew their team up when they traded for freaking Marcus Smart.

They spent a 1st rounder to get him, sent Jake Lavaria to get rid of him. Need draft picks to make more moves, sold off Desmond for a ransom but the team is nowhere near contending.

All of this is dumb.

Even with the multiple pick price, I’m still 100% sold on this from an Orlando POV. An area we are in absolutely desperate need of, whilst keeping hold of our core 3 guys, and still having picks to utilize in the future.

Four firsts on the basis seems a lot, but one of them is our pick in this years draft, which we would otherwise presumably be using on a guy who isn't going to be seeing much time on the floor, and 2 of them are in 2028/2030 where we would still (hypothetically) have Franz/Paolo playing at a super high level.

Completely understand as to why some may balk at the “four firsts” headline but I think this is an excellent move. Maybe I’m just delighted that we finally made a trade. Who knows?

I don't know how to feel about this, my initial thoughts are that a Suggs/Bane backcourt is strange. It's an improvement for Orlando, but it makes be believe they aren't done making moves maybe.

As for Memphis, they got a haul in draft capital so I can't say they didn't get anything back, but what are they trying to do in Memphis? Is it already time for them to retool? They still have a young core, so the only thing I can think of is that they want to pay someone else on the roster instead of Bane. Could be a CBA decision? I honestly don't really know.

Magic fans, what need is Bane filling here? This trade feels a little Bradly Bealish. Getting a nice player (well Beal used to be) just because you could, not because you needed him.

Yea the magic traded away four first round picks, but they have a solid young core right now and if it’s not working out they can still trade some of their younger pieces for the next available stud and retool that way it’s really not that bad of a deal for the magic

Why would Magic do this. Ruin the trade market like that? Now everyone is going to ask for 4 1sts pick swaps and more for an average starter. 1st it was Knicks' stupid Bridges overpay. Now Orlando. How much is KD going to cost? 5 1sts? or Giannis? 10 and a boatload of players? lol
