I wouldn't put the magic there yet with that core. They're more on the pistons level.

Hard disagree. They played this past year without Suggs/Mo Wagner. Add those 2 with Bane and they are part of the upper tier in the East.

Ingram trade continues to age like fine wine.

Maybe trading for guys on expiring deals to obtain their bird rights and sign them before they hit FA is the way to go moving forward.

Giving KCP that money in FA and still having 2 years on his deal had a cost of at least 1 of those draft picks.

Part of any value for a player is remaining years on a contract and that's going to be another premium (the Bridges factor). But there's about 2 picks too many in these types of deals, especially when protections are factored in.

I don't buy that Masai couldn't have gotten a future unprotected 1st for Siakam. Given the choice between bad, immediate picks in 2024 or an unprotected 2030, he'd chose the former because of his approach.

Maybe? Have to see how it all clicks. I don't move teams into a top tier until they show they can do it.

Remember the nets? Lol

They also had injury issues that shouldn't be discounted while our are held against us.

You can’t compare this trade to the pascal trade lol completely different scenarios.

Also with the Ingram trade the pascal trade got significantly better in terms of value. The fact that Masai was able to get as much out of that trade as he did is a win in of itself

they got 4 for a player leaving in 4 years.

I know you're smart enough to realize the value of the picks we got vs the value of the picks in this trade.

We got 2 picks in a crappy draft with the 3rd one projected to be in the 20s in 2026. Memphis got the 15th pick in a stacked draft + unprotected Was/PHO pick + 2 unprotected picks and a top 2 swap

Masai put himself into a corner willingly so thats his fault and why its held against him. Regardless, we all hope that was the old and weak Masai... we are getting his prime version going forward :)

If this is the asking price for a big fish Masai better not do anything stupid
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars

Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

We could probably trade RJ for a couple first round picks right now if we wanted. Rather than waiting till next season when he’s on an expiring contract and his value diminishes.

Sure and the difference in value can be attributed to one player being 26 and locked up. The other was 30 and a free agent (sure Masai can be faulted for that trade).

The actual value for an expiring Siakam forcing his way to a single location is actually really good.

Goga was actually really good for that last season. Pretty much equal to Poeltl level production.

He put up solid numbers as a starter but defensively he was often in the wrong spots or committing silly fouls.

Goga was good but Orlando lacked depth. Bitadze is a backup on a contender and Orlando wants to win a championship. Suggs was injured all year and Black and Anthony did not do enough for them at PG as well. So this team still has moves to make to be the team they want to be.

Even with more significant injury issues than the Raptors, the Magic were a somewhat competitive team. Paolo Banchero is better than any player on the Raptors and you could make the case that Bane and Wagner would be the best player on the Raptors too. I don't think they're in the same tier as Indiana and Cleveland, but they are unquestionably ahead of the Raptors.

Larger point I was trying to make is I don't see how the Raptors enter the Top 6 in the Eastern Conference as presently constructed.

#19 vs #16 is a wash
Indiana 26 vs Orlando 28 let's call it a wash

So it's #29 vs 26 PHX horcrux pick and Orlando 30

For 3.5 year extra of bane and have to take kcp contract for 2 extra years.

Orlando's depth chart is pretty interesting at the moment

Suggs / Joseph*
Bane / Black
Wagner / DaSilva / Howard
Banchero / Isaac
Carter / Bitadze / *Wagner
+picks at 25, 46, and 57 in the draft this year

*They have team options of Mo Wanger and Cory Joseph that I'm guessing they'll pick up. They also have team options on Gary Harris and Caleb Houstan that I'm guessing they will decline.

Walter Clayton Jr. at 25 would be huge for them, as he would fit in perfectly to what they need. 46 and 57, if they use those picks, would then round out the roster with some third stringers.

As the roster stands right now, Orlando could absolutely use more guard depth, and more shooting. They also have 3 rotation worthy centers. If we still need a backup center after or during the draft, I'd definitely be calling them about Bitadze.

They still have delusions that Paolo and Franz will work as primary ball handlers. And even with Bane, they’re a worse - much worse - 3pt shooting team than we are.

With that said, I expect them to trade Suggs for a PG at some point this season or next off-season.
