We got 2 picks in a crappy draft with the 3rd one projected to be in the 20s in 2026. Memphis got the 15th pick in a stacked draft + 2 unprotected picks and a top 2 swap.

Masai put himself into a corner willingly so thats hisnl fault. Regardless, we all hope that was the old and weak Masai... we are getting his prime version going forward

This is a typical Memphis organization diff move. Like when they traded Rudy Gay mid season and went from a .500 team to a 56 win team. KCP is a better fit for them. It also changes the culture there which has not been great.

I actually like it for Orlando too. The Phoenix 2026 is slightly concerning to give up though.
One thing to consider that adds value to Bane is that he is locked into a max before the 10% increases in cap came in. So his max is relatively cheap. In fact it is quite similar to the non- max that Suggs signed

The "overpay" people whine about on here is the Jak trade which ended up being a lotto pick in a weak draft and 2 SRP's. I think we are fine on that front.

This move for Orlando puts them above teams like Pistons/Raptors/Heat/Hawks/Bucks as of today in the East....They can compete with Pacers/Knicks/Cavs but i don't see them being better...

But them picks they gave up was a little too much....I can see a few of these picks they gave up to combe back to bite them.....If you give up that much picks it should be for a player that makes you at least a contender....Idk if Bane moves the needle that much.

I think Masai still has that old school approach. Superstars in the past barely fetched you 2 first round picks. Heck we got kawhi only giving up 1 pick. The bar has been set really low now if players like Beal, bridges and Bane are fetching you at least 4 round picks.

With that much draft capital, you have to evaluate this as an all-in move.

I don't think adding Bane to a core of Banchero and Wagner puts the Magic in the contender tier, so this is a huge risk imo.

And I like Bane, I just don't think he significantly changes the fortune of the team.

Heavy, heavy price for Orlando to pay for a near-allstar player, but the fit is good in Orlando, and I get the feeling they saw what IND has been able to do and want to go for it before their roster gets really really expensive. I don't think this puts them over the top though, but anything can happen in the playoffs I guess.

For MEM I think they're going to try and use these assets to land KD (or some other equivalent). They also need to win now with Ja and JJJ.

A solid trade for both teams - Bane makes Orlando a likely top 4 team and Bane is only 26 - Memphis is good at drafting, allows to extend JJJ without overextending themselves and maybe they can be a third team in the Durant trade by sending the Suns pick back to Phoenix and receiving young talent from another team.

I don’t think people realize how much of a boost Bane is. Orlando was virtually last in all shooting metrics, Suggs and Paolo both missed 40+ games their best bench player missed 40+ games and they still won 41 games.

They’re absolutely a top 3 seed in the east and are legit threats to make the ECF in my opinion.
