We need an appreciation thread for Cole. He has been tops for this franchise on the human level.

The Magic just need another shooter and playmaker off the bench

I’m happy to see him go from a basketball perspective but that dude was 100% committed to the franchise and would even go to drafts to welcome new teammates. Good dude making the most of his time in the league.

I like Banes but…

After more than a decade, with the NBA showing you need one, we still don’t have a PG.

Bane is on a different level in my opinion.
White is also going to become an UFA in 2026. With his current contract, there was no way to extend him for the amount he deserves.

Don’t think we are done. East is wide open next year. Magic will go all in with whatever assets they have left. Paolo/Franz/Bane/Suggs core is enough to be contenders.

$30-32m extension seems reasonable.

If we don't make a move for a legitimate point guard it won't matter and we'll have the exact same issues that we did last year.

Maybe we can trade Isaac, Jett and #25 in the draft night for Poole.
Re-sign MoW by 30m/3y(9m in the 1st year)
Our cap room will be approximately 192m, still under 1st apron.

Using full MLE to sign Portis

Suggs / Black
Bane / Poole
Franz / TDS
Paolo / MoW /#46
WCJ / Goga

No more Poole talks now folks, please. No way we want or need to absorb that contract for bench

He can’t be extended for that much currently. I think he can only be extended for 140% of his current contract, and he'll just wait to be a UFA.

Timing on White wasn’t there. One reason we likely wouldn’t meet Bulls demands.

Agreed 100%. And my gut feeling is we aren’t done yet. I have a feeling we’re going heavy after a PG but with the expense of Suggs and more. Remember Bridges and Gobert really set the bar high for second tier stars. So this really isn’t a shock to me. Though I wish we could have done it with less picks I’m not upset.

So crazy idea that will get hated on but whatever. Here it goes.

Magic get Joel Embid and Jared McCain.

Sixers get Suggs, JI and WCJ.

Sixers get out of the Embid business and get some good solid rotation players and a maniac in Suggs.

Magic take a major risk but even out there lineup. All the magic players involved have all been injury prone in their careers so it’s kinda trading 3 oft injured players for 1. McCain I really like and think he could be a really good player in the league. I think Bane is a better version of Suggs and has proven more in the league. Plus we could keep Goga and resign Moe to a cheaper deal to have solid depth for when Joel gets hurt.

McCain
Bane
Franz
Paolo
Embid

Bench: Black, TDS, Goga, Moe, 25th pick, Jett( if he is still here) and fill out the rest of the roster with ring chasing vets on minimum contracts. Definitely would be a 2nd apron team but would immediately be the favorites in the east for years to come.

Did someone say Walter Clayton Jr?

There are still avenues to trade for Simons if we want. Plenty of ways in the trade machine to make it happen if Portland wants to play ball.

Only thing is we would eventually have to pay him...I think it's almost certain we draft Walt now. Or make a move for him on draft night if he isn't that at 25. He is basically what Simons would be off the bench (including central florida roots lol) expect much cheaper. Obviously Simons would be better right now...but Walt is a play for the future and on a cheaper scale which we will need now.
The hero Orlando deserves is out there somewhere, Dwight was not the one we needed. So we will hunt for him...

If it's sent by ship then it's a cargo, if it's sent by road then it's a shipment.

Simons is a decent passer, but not a PG and not really a playmaker for other people. Bane is better than Simons in that respect

Somehow I feel a trade involving Suggs is incoming.

I share the same sentiments
