Was KCP that bad? Lol

Defensively no, offensively yes. By yes, I mean he didn’t really shoot enough to help.

We dont have a pick next yr after this trade. Plain and simple.

Then this is a total disaster.

Man oh man we are getting clowned on from every fan base. The t-wolf fans are popping champagne because someone did something worse than the Gobert trade and they are popping off on the GB. This makes the Ibaka trade look like tactical genius.

No one in their right minds is selling first round picks in the apron area, so get that copium right out. We are now stuck. We went all in for a non all star 3 point specialist. I give it 1 year until they fire Mose (if they don't after this trade) and two years before weltpark is fired and 2.5 before we trade Franz, Suggs, and maybe Paolo and start another rebuild because we set our ceiling too low a la AG, Vuc, and Evan.

Maybe I am just panicking though.

There are 50 LLE free-agents that are better than any non-lotto FRP. It is meaningless for Orlando to lose a draft pick next year as, for cheaper, a better player will be had.

4 uprotected 1sts for a player who isnt top 25 is insanity

Why not trade for Garland at that point? What is our PG situation going to be? Wtf is going on

Feels like this is the Hennigan moment of trading for Serge all over again. A monumental trade of nonsense

The only positive is not moving Suggs or AB, but at this cost I cant support. Ultimate vote of confidence towards them, something they havent earned in my eyes

its not really 4 unprotected and 2 of those will be in the 20's, but keep shouting it if it makes you feel heard

lol at "keep shouting it if it makes you feel heard"

#16 pick in a deep draft is a great haul.

And unprotected picks have more value coming from us when you look at the track record of poor management of injuries. Them being 20's picks is no guarentee, especially with the gap at PG still there

But keep taking it personal how I interpret the teams' moves if it makes you feel heard

KCP wasn't a good ballhandler or initiator, and that wasn't a good fit next to Suggs or Black. I think if you have both guards that can handle the ball, that lessens the need for a true PG.

Bane had 369 assists last season, and KCP had 139.

Impressed with the trade, even though 4 picks is prime KD territory. Love the fit and looking forward to our offense being run through most efficient options.

LOVVE IT. Break down the assets given up, KCP was a FA so just cap space, Cole was horrid who couldnt play in playoffs , the biggest asset traded was the Phoenix swap which we acquired for 2 second rounders. Brilliant.

he is a good, physical defender.

lol, all of a sudden this draft is a "deep draft". still doesnt make #16 "unprotected"

Like most, I’m liking this trade more and more as time goes on.

When evaluating our season last season Orlando was one of the best teams in the East to start and managed to keep a top defense despite the multiple injuries.

We in theory are going from one of the worst starting SG in the league to one of the best withOUT losing any depth or core players.

On paper and I mean this without hyperbole, Orlando should be a top-3 team quite easily pending health.

Spare me with the "alot of picks" picks in the 20s are worthless for Paolo and Franz. We had a surplus of picks to trade and still do.

I would feel better starting Black with Bane if Suggs was injured.

Desmond Bane is a nice acquisition.

It sucks losing The Swap with Phoenix next year so Weltman acquired for three crappy 2nds.

You have to wonder if they had to pay something to dump KCP's contract.

The Assets they gave up here hurt although Bane is a great get.

My initial reaction is - I like it a lot.

Yeah, 4 picks. Well, count one of those picks as us 'drafting' Bane with our #16 pick this year... Now it's 3 picks.

As for the rest - we got rid of negative salary, and those traded picks will likely be in the 20's anyway. I'm not too concerned about it.

Gotta take a swing every now and then...

What a shocker, I’m noticing the people up in arms about the amount of picks are generally the same people who’ve been screaming we need to stop relying on developing draft picks season after season…

It's an overpay...but a perfect fit from a team building standpoint.
Orlando is by far the favorite to win the Southeast division next season.

The other part of the injury concerns is just how it goes here. It gives me Grant Hill vibes. 2023-2024 was the first time in 5 years where injury wasn’t a huge concern and because Bane had healthy issues as well.

And why is everyone’s insult about not liking a trade is simply “go cheer for another team”? It’s okay for me to have a rash (even irrational) reaction like we always do here. I live in Orlando and I go to the games here. I enjoy this team. If I wanted to go and cheer for another team, I would have.
You keep saying that, but Bane really is like a PG. Our top PG candidate this season was Garland, who had his best season and averaged 7.9 apg per 36 mpg on 27% usage. Bane averaged 6.0 apg per 36 on 23% usage.

Reaves averaged 5.9 apg per 36 mpg

Orlando will not take the ball out of Paolo and Franz him to give it to Bane. They will however allow a vet point guard to do the job. Our blockbuster trade should have been for a starting point guard.

i love how you say that with certainty like the coaches are sharing game plans with you. Paolo himself doesnt want to be the main focus of the offense and more of a hub. How do i know that? He said it himself. Whats done is done, im not going to sit around and keep crying about what ifs.

I’m loving the acquisition of Desmond Bane. We finally have that scoring threat in the backcourt to loosen our offense up. The fact that Bane is a willing defender and passer is just icing. Like others, it feels like we gave up a lot. Kinda wish Weltman could have gotten a young big prospect out of them too. But no complaints on Bane, on paper he’s one of the best pieces we could have added to this squad. Hopefully next up is a veteran 1, a useful center and Walter Clayton at #25. That’s an offseason I’d be thrilled with.
You look confused...let me fill you in.
