Re: Biggest Draft Misses Draft - Discussion
Do people participating in this game look at how OKC has been in the post-season, the past 5 years of impact data, and conclude Caruso can be a starter in these games?

He can probably be a low FGA starter in the vein of Shane Battier or Bruce Bowen.
I like him better as a 6th man though.

He is a better defender, ball-handler, and shooter than Bowen. Battier had similar positional versatility and preferred his shooting over Bowen and similar to Caruso.
I think where Caruso sets himself apart from those 2 is the ability to truly guard 1-5 for stretches, can push the ball in transition, and has a semblance of a floor/dribble game.
The eye test is there, and then I go look at the impact family and see Caruso as a Top 15-30 per-minute player in the NBA.
For example, Caruso ranks 1 or 2 in DRAPM for the past 5 seasons

Battier has 4 seasons in the Top 10 of DRAPM
Bowen has 2 seasons in the Top 10 of DRAPM
Now, where I would push back against myself here is that while Caruso played in a league environment less friendly to defenders in general, it is possible Bowen and Battier could have been even more impactful in today's league with their versatility than they were playing in a more stagnant offensive environment. We know Caruso is one of (if not the best) the best defenders of this era, though, that's a fact.

One more thing, I wouldn't play Caruso starter minutes, though in the NBA Finals he is playing ~30 MPG.

It obviously depends on your starters.
And yeah, he’s a better player than the guys I mentioned but he still allows a perimeter star to be doubled.
This is definitely a pool where he’s viable as a starter but I still love him as a general menace off the bench.

I declined to pair Oscar with the Celtic small forward because I projected that Paul George would drop to me in round 3. He's nerfed by his one All-NBA First appearance, and an okay but not great franchise pairing. Also small forward is deep as hell. If not him than someone else.

You know I would second-guess myself and instantly regret not taking PG13.
You sir are a genius

You were the only one I was particularly worried about taking PG13.
But the wing was deep- there were other star wings I could have easily used as well. It simply did not make sense to me in this pool to select a wing with the first two picks.

He was on my shortlist...for round 2. I passed on him because his cost would make it harder to maximize talent elsewhere and he's not usually embraced as a first option in these games. Those were all great reasons...to not pick him in the early first round.
So to answer your question I have no effing clue.

He isn't even a good fit but Caruso/Wright can muddle up the water as POA attackers and AD/Walton should be able to hold the back-line.
