They don't have a point guard in the starting lineup. Maybe now they trade Suggs for one, but I wonder who other than Garland.

There is not enough drama between the Pacers and Thunder to take up coverage and content.

The Thibs firing and Knicks' coaching search, along with this Bane trade is helping the NBA stay relevant beyond just showing the Finals.

Karl cannot anchor the defense. It's a bad idea I think.

If Steven Adams got $13 million a year, Mitch might get $20+ million a year

I think it is very likely we trade Mitch for Donte. We will take our chances developing Huk and extending him for cheap like we did Deuce

I also think if we hire Taylor Jenkins, he is gonna want Donte cause that's one of his guys.

I think certain things would have to happen via other teams trades first before this could happens but it’s a possibility.

We also don’t know if Jenkins wants to run that system he had with the Grizzlies. It’s a good chance, but not a sure thing. It’s very weird for so much stuff to go down during the finals. I am not saying it’s unprecedented but usually teams fall back and let the finals happen before they announce trades and what not.

Bridges is being severely undervalued by some members of a fan base that doesn't recognize him being 3rd/4th option and run non stop into screens as a POA defender didn't not maximize his skill set.

Smart teams know a whole lot more than the average fan. Bridges still has plenty of value in this league.

If JJJ pushes for NyK like KAT did we absolutely have a chance.

That raises the point, who will defend POA if Mikal is traded.? He did it because Brunson can't guard the quick guys at his position. The year before it was DDV and Deuce off the bench. I don't think Deuce becomes a starter just to guard POA though

DDV comes back, or your MLE, or Hart. There are mutliple ways to play that and remember a thin Bridges isn't necessarily the best guy for that either .

Not surprising in the least. We likely have younger, less injury prone, and more than one year left on contract players in mind.

We arent pursing KD because we don't have interest but we made an offer at the trade deadline. Someone feeding shams some bad information.

Jenkins' relationship with Donte was when Donte was a rookie with the Bucks and Jenkins was an assistant for him.

From what I see with a lot of new coach hires around the league, it usually feels like the team tries to acquire at least one guy that has a previous relationship with the coach.

Thibs for example got the Knicks to get both Taj Gibson (multiple times) and Derrick Rose.

I don't think there were many teams competing for KAT while having to match his supermax contract less than a year removed from knee surgery, approaching 30 years old and the question marks about building around him. There was a reason the Knicks were able to get him for the price they did. JJJ who is 4 years younger and is only being paid $23M is much easier to match and will be in much higher demand if made available imo even on expiring contract.

This Bane move could signal a reshuffling of the team that could include JJJ moving out or it could just put the Grizzlies in a better position to retain JJJ with the cap savings from removing Banes contract. They are also in position this year where they could possibly renegotiate this final year of JJJ's contract at a higher number with their cap space. Utah did it last year with Lauri renegotiating his final year with cap space from $18M to $42M and then extending him from that higher number.

I'm not really sure I would see the point of Memphis trading Banes away for picks and a wing player and then trading JJJ for Bridges while still having to worry about losing Bridges in the off-season.

I do like the fit of KAT and JJJ in many ways but I also realize the Knicks might live in the penalty with those 2 foul magnets on the court at the same time :D

You are correct on Bridges but perhaps the idea would be to get him to commit to them as would we need to get JJJ to extend with us too. If JJJ tells Memphis and other teams I want NY that sways leverage greatly in our favor. You could also turn this into sending them OG (who is controlled for more years) and then keep Bridges too. I would rather trade Mikal but if I can keep Mikal and get JJJ thats more preferable than keeping Mikal and OG with no JJJ (especially with keeping KAT).

the more I think about it, the more I'm open to trading Mikal. I thought he'd be a better 3PT shooter, but outside the corners, he was below avg., and he wasn't the elite defender he was before (he had his moments tho for sure)

Last offseason the Rockets were willing to part w/ Jalen Green to get Mikal, so maybe they're 1) still interested 2) we can use whatever Rockets offer, re-route it for JJJ
