From Marc stein. Looks like we’re done going after head coaches that are under contract. And he also said those guys were our first choices.
Back to the Knicks ...

They clearly feel as though they can take a deliberate approach to their search for a successor to Thibodeau since New York has the league's only current coaching vacancy.

Yet it will be a struggle, to say the least, for the Knicks to ultimately convince the basketball public that they landed anything close to their first choice after requesting permission to speak to five employed coaches and getting rejected by all five teams involved: Dallas (Kidd), Chicago (Billy Donovan), Houston (Ime Udoka), Minnesota (Chris Finch) and Atlanta (Quin Snyder).

The Knicks appear to have moved on to pursuing coaches who are indeed available and, according to The Athletic's James L. Edwards III, will begin that process by interviewing Mike Brown and Taylor Jenkins, who were fired by Sacramento and Memphis, respectively, during the season.

I'd be comfortable with that Billy Donovan dream dying.

So basically the issue is winning some public relations issue with fans after the issue was exaggerated by the same media that created this article.

Somehow I'll sleep at night until this is all resolved.

He's not even an assistant now according to my Google search. Did a training camp guest stint for Doc Rivers is all I can see. A guy like him needs to work up thru the assistant ranks.

Although saying that, JJ didn't. Or Nash.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

The Knicks' request to speak to Billy Donovan was denied and that appears to have helped spark a new Bulls deal.

Donovan's previous extension, said to have one year remaining, was secured entering 2022-23 but not immediately announced until late November of that season.

Leon Rose is helping his fellow player representations ("agents") fetch more money from other teams.

This is what this outrageous coaching search is all about; Perhaps maybe someday, those agents would return the favor in kind when they are dealing with the knicks
