I think the assets on the table from the Spurs in a KD trade would be some combo of Vassell, Johnson, Sochan, Barnes and 14. I’d take 14 and whatever filler for Vuc/Ball. I would think the Suns could do better than this but who knows with the Reinsdorf / Ishbia connection.

NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

I found it incredibly hard to get a trade with Vuc to work. This is the only thing I could come up with between these three teams:

Bulls Trade:
Jalen Smith
Lonzo Ball
Patrick Williams
45th Pick

Bulls Receive:
29th Pick (via PHX)
38th Pick (via SAS)
Jeremy Sochan
Harrison Barnes
Malaki Branham
Blake Wesley

Suns Trade:
Kevin Durant
29th Pick

Suns Receive:
14th Pick (via SAS)
2026 Pick Swap w/Atlanta (via SAS)
Keldon Johnson
Patrick Williams
Jalen Smith
Lonzo Ball

Spurs Trade:
Keldon Johnson
14th Pick
2026 Pick Swap
38th Pick
Jeremy Sochan
Harrison Barnes
Malki Branham
Blake Wesley

Suns Receive:
Kevin Durant
45th Pick

Frankly, I'd rather have Smith than the 29th pick. Sochan is a nice pickup, and dropping Pat's contract is a win, but it's sort of a meh return talent wise. Not seeing an obvious trade here.

Yeah, I think Vuc aggregates the salaries to be a dollar more than Suns can take back (not really, but some trivial amount).

This is a good trade idea… but I feel the Suns are just better off taking Sochan, Barnes and #29/38, maybe even getting some cap relief. PWill is a lot of salary to take on for a guy with some horrendous numbers… and Lonzo can’t stay healthy. Fix: replace PW with Collins, whose expiring salary (and game) would be a better fit for Phoenix.

I think we’re stuck with Pat until he improves marginally.

what does P-won't and VUC-Puke do for us?

Pat - 3 and D guy. Not last season but consistent shooter and valid nba defense. Last season good friends with Coby White

Vuc - best season as a pro while on the Chicago bulls. Good defensive rebounder, facilitator and 3 point shot. Only problem for us is that he plays starter minutes as runs as a starter.

Not fans of them.

Pat might take two more years to actually show life. Luckily the CBA pushes that contract to look more like MLE.

Vuc this roster just doesn’t hide his weakness well enough as we don’t have an Aaron Gordon or Issac to hide his defensive shortcomings.

Do it on 24/25 salary which it should be done as of right now. Works fine with

KD> spurs

Vassel>bulls

Barnes, Vuch, Sochan, Carter > Suns work out picks wherever needed.

I did that exact very trade earlier.

Wow. That's a lot of bodies moving. I'm a smith fan too, and quite frankly the two picks are underwhelming. Also, I think we could do better for Lonzo in a deal alone. So in essence we're using Smith and Lonzo to get rid of PWill, and get back 2 pretty unattractive picks and Sochan. Pass.

I don’t think Phoenix would want a 3rd SG who can’t defend SFs. Majorly redundant with Booker and Beal, who already haven’t gelled. Just not seeing them accept Vassell and Vuc. Collins and Lonzo atleast address some of their needs.

And I’m not seeing any remote chance of Chicago getting a FRP, with Suns giving up Durant and Spurs paying that price. Sapien’s return atleast made sense to me, as we gave up serviceable starters for a #29, serviceable starter (Barnes) and prospect in Sochan.

I think you have to move Vuc in his own separate deal. I’d offer him with Jevon to the Lakers for Knecht, Kleiber and Vincent.

Return to Chicago Bulls
