They can’t really use the MLE without punting Isaac. There’s just not enough money under the first apron hard cap.
So really the question is, would you rather have Isaac or a MLE signing?

Which Isaac are we getting? 23-24 JI or 24-25 JI? If it's 24-25, even this JI fan would punt him for Ty Jerome.

I mean, that’s the gamble…

Gotta find gems like Jay Huff... who we had on our SL roster... to fill out the roster on the cheap moving forward.

The team should have all of that intel. Why isn't he playing more? Who pushed for adding weight? Are they sure that was the reason for the decline? etc.

Call me sentimental, but I'm rolling with JI.
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.
- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

This all comes down to the cap... once we sign PBs extension we are locked in. Getting Bane who is locked into his contract secures our top 4 players for the next 3+ years. Now we have to use leftover draft capital to plug holes and take upside swings. I want us to use the 25th pick on either Clayton or Raynaud and use our seconds to either get Proctor or Zikarsky. Plug the holes cheap and see if they pan out.

2nd on Grant Nelson. big that does all the dirty work. solid size and can switch on defense.

Re: Next moves to be Top-4 team in the East??
We need another guard off the bench for a scoring punch. Jonathan Isaac or Goga will have to be on the move. Assuming we resign mo on a cheaper contract, we have to get a PG. We need Suggs insurance. If and when he goes down again, we need someone to plug in the starting lineup. And no its not gonna be AB. AB, TDS and hopefully Jett are going to have some bigger roles next season. Were at the point that if you don't provide anything positive as a rotation player, your gone.

Not opposed to this option. Just thinking there may be a higher ceiling with Zikarsky, but Grant's floor may be better.

I'd roll the dice on JI vs sign that bumhole.

I agree that Grant may not have a huge ceiling and better floor. I look at him like i did Herb Jones in that draft. And Ayo. 2 years in the SEC, he showed he belonged vs good competition. showed top marks at the combine with athleticism. if he doesnt get drafted, i hope Orlando brings him into camp.
I dont know much of anything about Zikarsky. but at 7'3, i worry about switchability. scouting calls out lack of foot speed and mobility. only playing 7 mpg right now. i think people may just be enamored with his height and wingspan.

True transparency.... That is what I see in him (enamored). Someone that can give us 6 fouls on Wemby or Chet. Carter is not going to cut it in the Finals and we have to swing for the fences going forward with our 2nd round picks. Just hoping 1 hits.tiderulz wrote:uraverage wrote:tiderulz wrote:2nd on Grant Nelson. big that does all the dirty work. solid size and can switch on defense.

Same.
I guess the other move is trade either Goga, Jett, TDS, #25 for a back-up guard.
Fire Mosley

Our bench is terrible on the offensive end. Black is most likely the most talented on that side with Moe out.
This team needs a scoring guard, not named Cole Anthony.

Paul would be an excellent 3rd string PG on this team. His ability to be a lockerroom coach to Suggs and Black would be prceless education.
A vet min contract for a 10+ year player is 500k more than the 25t pick though. That 500k could matter in aprons.

I hope we're able to re-up Moe, but it may not be in the cards...this was an all-in move and Moe will be out for months and may need even longer to regain his full capabilities.
I wonder if we'd consider (or BRK or any team with a trade exception or some space would) sending out #46 (or #57?) with Jett for nothing back, to get towards that MLE. If I'm a rebuild team with a year to kill, why not take a chance? The kid can clearly shoot.
The worst thing we can do is trading the 25th for short term moves and moves that decrease in value. We need young cheap players with potential for internal growth and the chance of increasing their value.
You have to hope AB and 25th become/remain positive assets to have ammo if it doesn't go as planned. When you trade them for short sighted win now players you have to break up the big 4 as soon as something goes wrong without having the possibility of having other assets teams want instead.

Orlando neds, nedds, needs a primary backup SF. I agree it needs to be an offensive minded hooper. But it will be a vet-min guy.
So: outside of bringing back Slow-Joe Ingles, what's left? Kessler Edwards? Anyone else?

Whoever we end up drafting will provide a clearer picture. I'd prefer a player who is ready to contribute now opposed to one that is a project for obvious reasons
