Mikal was pretty mediocre in Brooklyn in every metric, Bane was pretty good for years in Memphis. All hype aside, I'd say Bane comfortably.

Think bridges value comes from the fact that you know he will never miss games and his contract is pretty good for a 2 way player. Obviously bane is a better offensive player but they both got there pros and cons. Both those trades were made for need purposes for each team.

If I'm being forced to put in a lot of picks to give myself a better chance at winning and these two are my options, I'm taking Bridges without hesitation.

Both are good players to have on the court when you need buckets in a hurry. That's what they do, score the basketball from anywhere on the court. Both can play defense also. Equal value to me.

The one who has better guard skills is the one who’s more valuable

I have Bridges as more valuable.

Bridges was traded for Bojan Bogdanovic and 5 unprotected picks (2025, 2027, 2029, 2031 and a protected 2025 pick (Milwaukees pick), plus one swap in 2028)

Bane was was traded for KCP, Cole Anthony ,#16 pick in 2025, a pick swap in 2026 (they can swap with Phoenix), a 2028 pick, a 2029 swap and a 2030 pick.

That's three picks and two swaps. Plus two contracts that Orlando no longer wanted.

I don't think that's the same value, but the swap in 2026 for Bane might make a difference. Otherwise I'd say NY paid more for Bridges and wouldn't compare the two deals.

That 26 pick swap is worth more than any unprotected Knicks pick. Memphis definitely paid more.

The defensive gap is significantly bigger than the offensive gap IMO. Especially if Mikal shoots the three better next year than he did this year.

Bane easily.

Orlando fans won't have buyers remorse with getting in Dessie 12 months after the trade like all the Knicks fans rueing acquiring Mikal and wanting to move him on...

Can't answer this poll as who has more value and who is the better player are separate things here.

I think in a vacuum Bridges is probably the better player.

But Bane is two years younger and is cost controlled for the next four seasons whereas Bridges is up for a significant extension, so I think Bane is more valuable currently.

Kind of a funny comparison. These guys are almost the same height (6'5 vs 6'6 based on what they're listed at) but their wingspans are 9 inches apart. I genuinely feel like Bane's TRex arms are a pretty big disadvantage so I'm taking Bridges.

Frankly, each player fits his situation much better than the other...
In a vacuum, I'd take Bane.

We also should consider (for ‘at the time of trade’) Bridges made/makes around ~$11MM less per year than Bane (comparing 24-25, and 25-26 seasons). That’s enough salary for another quality rotation piece.

That’s not on Mikal, and that’s not why Bane would be better. End of the day the remorse comes down to the shortcomings of the NY stars.

Small and not-super gifted athletically Brunson and Bonehead Towns are both older (compared to Orl) and can be stymied at the championship level due to those limitations.

Paolo and Franz both have prototypical size, youth, and have not been exposed as knuckleheads (like Towns). They do have a flaw in shooting that can still theoretically be improved. There is genuine hope. If they were Brunson/Towns ages and had full careers shooting as they are, then it would be a different story,

For NY, Brunson can’t ‘fix’ his physical profile. Any hope that Towns is going to fix his flaws at this stage in his career would be wishful thinking at very best.

The remorse comes in the acknowledgment (explicit, or known yet ignored or unrealized) of these facts.
