CHA/WAS Draft Day Trade (In Spirit of Vencie's latest mock)
Charlotte Trades : #4, #33, #34, Josh Okogie (can be waived by July 1st without cap penalty)
Washington Trades: #6, Kispert, #18, Colby Jones (to make the trade legal, or pick another min player)
In this scenario, Philly (or a trade partner) takes VJ #3 and Ace is available for Washington at 4 to take a big swing on as a star.
Charlotte can still take one of Kon or Tre at 6 + BPA at 18 and improves much needed perimeter shooting with Kispert.

Kon and Kispert is a bit redundant but if Charlotte thinks Kon is BPA, they should probably just snatch him up at #4.
I like this for Washington but also could see them just sticking-and-picking since they do lack overall talent and #18 is still going to be a good prospect.

Sure. If Washington sees a player at 4(doesn't have to be Ace either) they love and don't want to risk losing and Charlotte doesn't have a guy they are in love with this seems fine. Washington should gladly give up Kispert and 18 to ensure they get their guy if they are in love with someone.

This is all predicated on Charlotte ranking Tre/Kon about the same and Washington wanting to go after Ace with the highest star upside potential. There would possibly be other teams looking to jump (like NOLA) for Ace as well. Washington could then package their high seconds to move back into round 1 as well if they had another target in that 15-25 pick range.

I don't think Kispert is positive value on that contract, I wouldn't put him as added value to move up.

I'd do it for VJ too, probably before Bailey though (as I've said) I don't really trust my rankings of draft potential where I am willing to give the current Washington front office that trust based on what I've seen so far.

Re: CHA/WAS Draft Day Trade (In Spirit of Vencie's latest mock)
I worry about the scenario Kon drops to #6 and not Tre Johnson. Like, what happens if Kon is essentially a carbon copy of Kispert his first couple years in the league as he works on diversifying his game?
I also really really don't trust Jeff Peterson to not go off the deep end again and make some wacky pick at #6 compared to #4 where you can just easily pick from 2-3 guys. But that's a Jeff Peterson issue, not a trade value issue. And it feels fine here if we value #4-#6 on roughly the same tier.

Both white shooters with size but Kon showcased more athleticism and shot creation than Kispert ever did at Gonzaga. Don't know if it translates at the next level, but the projection is for a much more complete player than Kispert who was always going to be a shooting specialist at this level. That's the downside for Kon. His size and shooting will keep him employed for a decade or more, the rest of his skills is why he likely goes in the top half of the lottery.

I know he should be more versatile eventually, but we are talking about 19-year-old rookie who will likely have to mature both into his body and skillset. I'm worried about next season and the next, if he's not ready to take on the mini Gordon Hayward role that we'd hope for in his future?

I’d trade #6 plus a late 2026 FRP (via OKC) for the #4, but that’s probably as much as I would give up. You can include the Kispert/Okogie part, or not. I don’t really care.
The whole premise here is that Charlotte kind of wants Knueppel anyhow, so it shouldn’t cost too much for the Wizards to move up two spots. If I have to give up the #18 to move up, I’d rather just stand pat and pick at #6.
I don’t see much distinction in this draft between #8 and #20 so I really value that #18. There is going to be some good players in that range.

I have a tierbreak after 5, assuming the board goes as expected (Flagg, Harper, some combination of Ace Bailey/VJ Edgecombe/Tre Johnson) so if I were the Hornets would pass on the offer unless one of them unexpectedly falls to 6, then I would consider. Otherwise I'd rather use the extra assets to shop for a second pick around 20.

They can't wait until 6 to make the trade. We went through this before. These deals have to be agreed to by the time the highest pick is OTC. Because the Hornets would have to pick Washington's guy hoping someone got to 6, but if he didn't then they have a guy they might not have chosen.

Feel like Sixers would probably take something like this for #3.

That is true if each team would take a different player at 4, but if they intend on taking the same player at 4 then the Hornets could defer a decision until the Wizards are on the clock at 6. This is what happened between the Hawks and Mavs in 2018, the Hawks had Luka as their first option but were willing to move back to 5 as long as Trae was still on the board, the Grizzlies took JJJ at 4 so the trade went through, otherwise it wouldn't have.

nope, Dallas had the pick at 3, it did not wait until Trae got to 5.

Agreed times 10
6 AND 18 for anyone not Harper feels like an overpay, and they may as well stay put. Hopefully another team falls in love with someone like Kon or Maluach and jumps us, and Tre or Ace fall to 6, and you take another shot at 18.

I feel like the Duke center and Fears should be amongst those pushing that top tier to 7. Fears game reminds me a ton of Kyrie. Maluach has all the defensive upside of a Gobert, great lateral mobility, and 76% ft so he projects well offensively.
