That's the other thing like, you know, I'm sure you guys watching the tape like Texas just didn't do anything for him off the ball. Like this dude is a lethal shooter. Like I watched him go through a workout in Santa Barbara and he sprinted off of actions for like an hour.

This dude did not get tired. He did not ever see like any sort of drop in terms of like the shot stopping falling. Like I told him after the workout, I was like, that was one of the most impressive workouts I've ever seen from a teenage shooter. This dude just goes and he goes hard and he is very well conditioned. And like he is all about hoops.

Like that's why I like when people bring up the defense, I'm like, yeah, like I think he is more focused on scoring right now. Like I think he wants to like maximize what he is as a scorer, it feels like to me.

But I think he'll figure it out. Like I think he wants to win so bad that like he'll eventually learn that like, OK, I can't just do this one way. Like I got to go both ways on this.

Intangibles rant for a guy that had negative offensive rebounding and steal rates. That's hustle and will quantified.

Tre is exploding off the dogosity chart in the wrong direction.

I’m just very skeptical of the whole Tre Johnson sales pitch. Just because he works hard on his shot & offense (the fun part of basketball) doesn’t mean he’ll “figure it out” on defense.

He’s going to suddenly become an average defender playing against the biggest, smartest, and most skilled players in the world? That’s not something you can develop on an empty gym with a couple skills coaches.

Tre Johnson has superstar #1 scorer potential. Meanwhile this guy that BPMcels are pimping at #3 overall is nothing but an OPEN C&S MERCHANT:

- Benefits from very open looks in Duke’s offense.
- Release is a bit slow, open looks can become contested.
- Shorter release point makes him more affected by closeouts.
- Prefers shooting over smaller guards, avoids shooting over bigs.

You can chalk it up to Texas kinda needing him to focus mostly on scoring due to roster make up and poor coaching. It is very hard to be the whole offense and also play great defense

the issue is that Tre played the worst defense instead of just bad or Harden style sooooo idk

I think you might be vastly underestimating how good Luol Deng was then.

I remember! Deng was a very good basketball player. I just think it's too early to call out Edwards ceiling.

Rookie season stats:

In 27 MPG, Deng averaged 11.7 Points, 5.3 Rebounds, 2.2 Assists on .434% Shooting
In 26 MPG, Edwards averaged 10.1 Points, 3.4 Rebounds, 1.6 Assists on .455% Shooting

I know stats aren't everything, but it's not wildly different. Deng was a plus defender, which we'll see how Edwards improves.

Different era statistically. He also did that as the 4th best player on a 47 win team. And that's 47 wins in the Chandler/Curry frontcourt days.

Tre's sales pitch is that you'll watch the sexiest low impact buckets for 12-15 minutes per night.

He run's relentlessly like a dog to get open!!!!

Where's that hustle on the glass or on defense? Tre was rotting so bad on the court in every other non iso situation that he actually stunned evaluators blowing past his predicted benchmarks at the combine (red flag).

No passing, defense or rim pressure. This isn't a good prospect outside of mixtapes, but many good men have fallen to the glitter of those before.

I would be able to overlook Tre being a black hole on defense if he was an elite passer or slasher (Harden was both). Unlike at center, you can hide one guard or wing and still compose a high level unit on that end.

In the case of Tre though, if all you're bringing to the table is iso mid-range scoring, you're just Cam Thomas with two extra inches and that sort of player isn't providing enough to warrant what he's bleeding at the other end.

Sounds like another prospect we’ve been talking about.

I’d like two way players for $1000, Alex.

Who are VJ and Ace? Ding ding ding ding…

I dont think Tre has Harden passing, but i think he´s underrated in that area. I watched some game highlight´s of him and he had a lot of pretty good passes, like way better than Maxey´s normal passes, but his assist numbers was low, and i think it was affected by his team being crap. One game he had like one APG but i counted like 7 or 8 good passes that his team just failed to convert.

So if we draft him, i think it will have, like if we draft Harper, a good effect on Maxey´s % numbers, since he wont have to play PG in every play.

Just a insane flamethrower, with great percentage shooting from C&S and stepbacks( very "Hardenesque"), HE will score 20 points easily. If he can improve his driving to the rim game he will be an allstar. I dont even care for his defense  If we dont want Ace i would go Tre. I think he will be better than Harper.
