Yeah a shot in the dark. A true bulls eye.

Raps going to roll into next year with Ja and Durant.

Masai's GM mid-life crisis. I'm in.

Again like we were arguing in another thread, all these reporters are going to use Toronto name is a launching point for all these star rumors. Like I said I take all of these with a grain of salt. JA doesn't even make sense on this roster outside of "star hunting"

As long as they can keep IQ/Ingram/Barnes, I'd give up anything to get JJJ. But there is now way they are trading him.

Masai needs to find hidden gem players. Guys that have shown potential but aren’t getting much shine on their current teams. Some on like Aaron wiggins, or even Simon’s or Portland. Those players wouldn’t cost that much and would fit a need on this team.

Except for him being a better version of RJ getting to the rim, and overall a better defender, only lacking in shooting the 3. He would make both IQ and RJ redundant and movable, while allowing Ochai to slot into the SL. A star player that can find his own shot totally doesn't make sense on a roster completely lacking that.

I can get if you don't want him on the team for other reasons, but to suggest he doesn't make sense, is just illogical.

2nd in the west. He is out? One of the worst teams. Comes back? Winner again. In the west.

Most of you hate him for silly things. Not guilty in court. Guns are legal in America. Did nothing wrong.

Debatable how much value a "Star" that scores on 50.4 eFG% has. The High FTR gets him to slightly below league average TS% but I wouldn't feel confident in his body holding up to maintain this style of play into his late 20's. His frail build combined with extensive injury history and reliance on athleticism would make a very steep decline a much higher probability than I would be comfortable with. I have more confidence in Ingram going forward than I do Morant.

The fit would also be weird. Jak is a non shooter. Scottie and Morant are really bad 3 point shooters. Ingram and Ochai aren't high volume 3 point shooters. To say spacing would be an issue would be an understatement.

I'm convinced he just likes arguing with me at this point, because like you said, JA doesn't even fit anything the Raptors wanna do from a PG perspective, and even if you wanna disregard that, JA Barnes Jak doesn't make sense

we just saw what they traded Bane for. In that context it's hard to see how it's possible to acquire Ja for cheap

I'm not endorsing going after Ja, but part of what Orlando gave up had to do with unloading the bad contracts of KCP and Anthony. Either way Orlando paid large for Bane, who's not an all-star, but maybe in that next tier.

Doubt he's in trade talks. But do you really want him? Injury prone, immature. Will be 26 already by start of next season and he relies on athleticism a lot. Those injuries are going to add up quick.

Is he better at getting to the rim than RJ?

He certainly drives more, but as his volume has gone up, his ability to get all the way there has declined. Which is somewhat normal, to be fair, but does him no favors as far as scoring efficiency and the like. He's been around a 56% TS guy in his last two seasons of more than 9 GP, which isn't far better than RJ. And at 16.9 FGA/g, RJ got to the rim on 35.4% of his attempts this year, compared to Morant's 28.9 and 23.3% in 2023 and 2025, on 19.9 and 17.8 FGA/g.

He's a better penetrate-and-pitch guy, but we also have weaker shooting.

I dunno, man. Better defender, no doubt. Is the difference large enough on O to go with all the risks and flaws he has? :o

I don't know. Ja is good, he's a good example of how an inefficient dude can drive an offense with rim pressure and passing, but he's not a playoff marvel, he's not a dude you WANT supporting large volume and he has so many issues.

His player type also falls off a cliff when things go bad eg. Wall, Francis, Marbury. Smaller guards who can't shoot have not aged well historically. To add to that, he's always injured and relies so much on his athleticism. Not a good combination heading into his mid to late 20's.
