Reading his story def points to him continually improving. Problem is he is Vuc on D. Unless you are putting CMB next to him he doesn’t really work.

It's really a crapshoot at 12. I don't have an issue with any of the guys in the range, honestly. Maybe they get lucky, maybe not.

I do think that future high end starter or even all-star will b there at #12, just don't have confidence in our scouting department to find him.

He is another trade down guy. Like Kalkbrenner and Beringer (though the latter may go real high). My worries with Reynaud are worrying defensive advanced stats. He seems like a more athletic, better shooting Alex Len. Def an NBA player, but unless he defends much better than the scouting reports and stats I have seen suggest….

I don't think he'll be a defensive juggernaut, but I don't think he's going to be a guy people try to exploit all night long. He averaged a respectable 1.4 bpg and 0.9 spg which has to be on the higher side for centers. His defensive rating is slightly better than average. He'll need to get stronger and keep working on defensive mobility, but he's also a guy who hasn't played very long and has made massive improvements.

Maluach at 13.

They have us taking CMB. Why?

He cannot shoot and is not efficient.

Plus I question the upside.

We found a steal last year with Matas . Kobe , Kawki Steve Nash were late lottery to mid round picks

Historically #12 does not lead to all stars, and a significant drop off occurs at #11, however this draft does appear to be deeper than normal. I think the talent drop-off is closer to the 14-17 range this year. That being said, the second round talent is WORSE because of NIL, so it's an interesting dynamic.

This is also why I am such a proponent of using #45 to trade back in to the 1st round in the early 20's. Still solid talent and a couple of those guys will turn out to be lottery-worthy. Odds of #45 panning out with NIL is slimmer than normal.

I think Essengue/Coward is the winner this year. Fleming works for me too.

What if I told you that there was at least one all-star in every draft since 2016 picked at #12 or later? Seriously..look it up. Excluding the last 2 draft classes which is a given because they're too young, but the trend is likely to continue IMO. So i'm confident that player will be there for us, and like you said its a deeper that normal draft as far as 1st rounders. Just a matter of our scouting.

And I don't expect the #45 pick to amount to anything at all. 0 expectations.

Older players being undervalued is nothing new.

Kalkbrenner was dominant this year.

Offense:

Kalkbrenner shot 73% in the pick and roll this year. He sets good hard screens and rolls hard to the rim, has great hands, and is ag reat lob catcher and finisher.

For three straight years his 2P FG% was over 70%

And it's not on low volume, he attempts 12 shots a game. He dropped 49 points in a game this season.

He led the NCAA in dunks. He gets to the rim and he finishes.

98th percentine in trasition effecieny

90th percentile in post-ups and in cuts

86th percentile in putbacks

34% 3P% this year

Defense:

Best paint protector in the entire draft. Won the NCAA Naismith defensive player of the year award. 4 time Bog East DPOY

2.7BPG with a 7.3% Block Rate

Creighton ranked in the 96th percentile as a team in opponent field goal % at the rim and that's due to Kalkbrenner

Commits only 2.2 fouls per 100 possesions. He locks down the paint and does so without fouling

A year after Edey and Clingan go top 10 I'm sort of confused why Kalkbrenner is mocked so low. The resume is great.

He's the best rim protector in the draft and the most effecient offensive player in the draft

That's A problem.
With that kind of problem than the safe bet is Queen from the listed NAMES OP provided, move on from VUC and PAT, The rest is up to Billy to get it done. I'm well aware that AK is a problem also, that i know.

We are nearly a week out now. Will probably see a couple more trades and getting a clearer picture of who wants which player. With so many tems with mulitple picks I think we will see some trade up trades.

If you had asked me a week ago I would've easily said Queen but Noa Essengue measuring in at 6'10 barefoot really is interesting.

In my ideal world Matas is playing with another wing instead of a guard like Huerter or Ayo. Essengue being near 7 feet in shoes, with how athletic he is, the fact that he's contributing at such a young age, and how much he fits with our fast paced system makes me think he should be the pick if he's there.

KJ is my realistic guy if he falls.

Then it’s a tie between Coward and Essengue.

I do like Maluach but i don’t see him getting past Toronto. Also like Fleming but that’s more like trade Pwill or future draft capital for.

Still holding out hope for Cooper Flagg but Derik Dairy Queen sounds good also. Maybe he'll bring some ice cream to the team.

Maybe they can just re-use the old Felicio pics to save money on team pics. IMO Queen would be a royal f*ck up of a pick.

Maybe so but he has the perfect name to be marketed by Dairy Queen and that would mean DQ food for everybody. :P

My #1: Jakucionis. I think he can be Giddey with a shot. Might be rough defensively, but to me the highest ceiling of the guys likely to be there.

My next couple: Queen/Sorber. Bigs with skill and basketball instincts.

My :dontknow: but I'd be good with: Malauch. If he develops, with his size/wingspan, would be a stud. But it's all dependent on his development and your development program, so might not be a good fit here.....

Bang my head on the wall: Fears/Richardson. The options for a short guard are REALLY limited in terms of delivering high value.

Most likely: Demin/CMB/Bryant. Guys AK thinks have massive tools that he can teach to play (narrator: He won't). Basically versions of Pat/Dalen.
