There goes that hope of Simons getting traded. I would have liked that trade down option for #16/#25 to still be available to the blazers…

If Simons would have fetched that return I would have been ecstatic.

Even some Memphis superfan influencers on Twitter who LOVE Bane were laughing at how good a trade this was for the Grizzlies and how much of an overpay it was.

I’m starting to have a hunch Cronin does value Simons to this level. He also probably feels that if they’re getting low-ball offers, it’s due to his contract expiring and teams worried they will lose him for nothing in a season… more reason for everyone to prepare for a Simons extension this summer.

I gotta credit the Magic--they went and got their guy. Assuming health, I could see the Magic being Top 5 in the weak East.

Still feels like an overpay, but Magic are shooting their shot. Obviously, Bane is miles better than Simons. And yeah...I fully expect an extension for Simons, which would be compounding the multiple blunders of keeping him around for too long.

I was thinking the same thing. And I'm betting it looks like Memphis is going a reset/rebuild with that move. Ja Morant is likely going to be moved this summer too.

All reports from those close to Memphis are saying this is not the case, actually the exact opposite. They aren't looking to move either Ja or JJJ after the Bane trade.

Did y'all know Ben McLemore was arrested for raping a 21-year old girl from Lake Oswego? I hadn't heard about that. He's gonna spend 8-years in the Oregon State Pen..

I'm sure if I start a new thread about this, it'll just get locked, but...

https://www.ynet.co.il/sport/article/sjtohomdxx

The next words about Israel from Deni's mouth had better be a denunciation of its genocide in Gaza. I gave him the benefit of the doubt about his solidarity with the IDF when the campaign against Gaza kicked into a new gear in October 2023. But he recently spoke pridefully of representing the Israeli national team, prioritizing it over his NBA career, and also of "educating" others about Israel "on the right side and the good side," and he sounds like he's just dancing around his endorsement of the state and its actions. At best, he is carelessly creating a trail of tone deaf remarks. At worst, he is cynically avoiding a direct statement in order to maintain his fanbases in both countries. Actually, no -- at worst, he supports the genocide of the people of Gaza.

American media need to follow up on this. If he is so keen on educating others about Israel, he can do so publicly and stand behind a clear statement of his beliefs.

As someone who's spent eternally too much of my life worrying about other peoples opinions and someone who's exhausted by the current news cycle, for my mental health, I truly don't (and more accurately CAN'T) care about it.

Basketball is my escape from that bull. I don't seek out Deni's opinion on the matter, largely because me getting upset about it as it's opposed to my world views is not going to do any good.

Watch Patrick Beverley's reaction when he just found out that a 20-year-old Karl Malone impregnated a 13-year-old girl.

Re: Deni... people are more than their political beliefs - by in large. Those are a bit more complex. Even if what looks like horrific situations, there can be a bit more of a gray area.

What Malone did... Different story imo.

Blazers Edge is having a GM contest. I was unable to paste a link, but it should be easy to find if you're interested.

Trivia ?

Which NBA player had the LOWEST TS%, with more than 15 points per game, for the 2024-25 season?

A. Murray with a TS% of 49.4%

Dejounte Murray, not Kris Murray. Kris's TS% was even lower @ 48.1% (espn/fox, other sources have Kris's TS % as low as 47.1%)

Also, Kris's twin Keegan had a TS% of 55.3. Which was lower than the previous season, which was also lower than his rookie season.

The league average TS% for the 2024-25 season was 58 1%.

Can any Murray shoot?

Kris is the worst of the worst. Why is he taking up a roster spot?
