I don't think Dame made it clear publicly that he didn't want to go to Toronto. I think that came out after the fact.

My fear is that Masai isn't reading the room and thinks he's doing another 'Kawhi' trade.

Uh, what about signing Landry Fields to block New York from signing Steve Nash while Steve partied with James Dolan? There was just so much wrong with that moment of time.

Hey, at least KD is still playing at a high level. Jermaine O'Neal was very washed even though I still liked his effort/attitude.

I agree though... hoping Masai doesnt do anything stupid out of desperation. We aren't in a bad spot even if we did nothing but draft 9th and/our find a backup Center for next season.

Yeah at least with KD he's still playing at a Top 10-15 level

Problem is that, like O'Neal, he's a huge injury risk you're devoting a shitton of cap space to and thus have to sacrifice depth for - and this team only won 30 games last season

From their perspective IQ makes way more sense compared to RJ considering they already have Beal/Allen/Booker and RJ is more of what they already have.

What would the Heat offer look like? Some combination of Wiggins or Rozier, Robinson, Ware plus picks?

The Spurs with Vassell, Johnson and picks?

The Rockets with Green, Sheppard, Landale and picks?

How do you know what picks and who. Or is it just your guess

I hope we don't do that trade, lol

Im going off the Reports that are out from Windy and Fischer....IQ/Barrett/Yak all up for trades for a significant upgrade, And the report Windy said 9th pick is also on the table....Total guess but from the reports, The "Big fish" comments and the specific details on players....Sounds all but likely the offer is Yak + One of RJ/IQ + 9th pick....Prolly Suns would choose out of RJ/IQ And they prolly would want IQ more...

Trading down 20 spots is absolute f*cking malpractice

For a year of KD? Inexcusable move vs trading a future 1st. This is what you expect to be your best opportunity to draft some immediate help, giving it up and gutting your starting lineup when you flatout don't have a starting-level center? It boggles the mind.

I have a feeling it is not KD they are hunting, he doesnt make sense. KD makes only sense on contenders, which we are not.
I would not be surprised if we land jaylen brown or someone like that, who is younger and we can improve over the coruse of two to three years.

Houston may still be holding out hope that Booker becomes available. Game this out for the Suns: they want their 2027/28 picks back in the trade, but still don't have the 2026. So are you trying to compete for one year, then tank in the next 2? Booker basically being in a rebuild for 3? Are you trying to re-trade those 2 picks for another star? What's the point? Makes more sense to blow it up start over.

Maybe a 3 way where you send Ja to the Rockets, Booker to Memphis and the Suns get all their picks back.

People dramatically overrate draft picks, especially non-top 5 picks.
The most recent #9 picks: Edey (decent starter max), Taylor Hendricks (bust), Sochan (bench player), Davion Mitchell (bench player), Avidja (good starter), Rui Hachimura (decent rotation player), Kevin Knox (bust), Dennis Smith Jr (bust), Poeltl (good starters).

So out of the last 9, there's been 2 good starters and 0 allstars. I'm not even advocating for KD but even 1 year of KD is better than a full career of Davion Mitchell.

The thing is it's not just #9. It's JP as well. The team doesn't even have a proper back up C. How do you fix that in order to field a competitive team around KD?

Yes we would need to have a plan for a replacement center. Capela or Luke Kornet maybe? both are free agents. Maybe trade for JV back?

I rather spend these assets on an actual point guard.

People don’t like him but adding Trae Young to the team would make a big difference. If all it cost was IQ + RJ + 9 then you do that all day especially after what Orlando paid for Bane.

I came back from self-imposed isolation to drop some unsubstantiated guesswork.

We know which players are supposedly available and that #9 is available but what if they’re not all for a Durant deal? Walk with me for a bit, what if it’s IQ, Jakob and picks for Durant and what if it’s RJ and #9 to Brooklyn for Claxton and #19 & 26 or 27?

Claxton replaces Jakob, you get #19 and perhaps another late First knowing Brooklyn wants to move up and likely doesn’t want 4 FR picks and an early 2nd. The Suns want to be seen as getting something for Durant and a PG and viable C with 2-3 picks (even if they’re not great) likely does it!

The Raps starting lineup ends up being SB, GD/OA, BI, KD and Clayton at C.

Now I return to the Mountain top to continue to think deep thoughts.

So? It was proven to be 100% correct. Trades happen all the time with players not wanting to go to places, the whole staying thing is the issue. The Kawhi one was a calculated risk, this is just another short-sighted move in a long line of them.

I'm here for maximum chaos though, bring him in, at least it'll be entertaining.
