Would be smart of them, since they can trade KD wherever they want, without his approval.

would be pretty easy for KD to tank his value by saying im not playing for that team or signing an extension. who would be interested in giving up assets for a 1 year rental for a guy whos not gonna be happy playing there?

As he should, right?

Suns don't have to cooperate, but his agent should absolutely be working on his behalf to get him to a place he wants to be. Not sure why this is painted as a negative around here lol.

I agree they all do that these days. And it's worked for him several times already in the past. I was just posting as an update to show that it's unlikely to be easy for the Suns to trade him wherever and get a big haul. He's going to be playing the game and tanking his value as an expiring by basically telling teams not on his list he won't be signing an extension with them or be happy there.

Clearly winning isn’t a top priority for KD. He just wants to play basketball and chill.

The offers will reflect that.

Butler didn't really wanna go to the Warriors but still got extended, ultimately.

Weird. Minnesota is one of the better fits for him.

Is it? If you're Minnesota you're going into the offseason without any type of defensive center or defensive point guard to lean on. You'd be nearly tapped out of assets/cap space and have to go bargain bin shopping for players like a lot of other teams, the difference is that it's probably harder to sign quality free agents if you're Minnesota. If you're KD you have to figure out the best way to make heliocentric basketball effective next to Edwards, similar to how he tried with Booker, Irving, and Westbrook in the past.

If he were to go to Houston he's literally being plugged into the Jalen Green role and would have an established 50-win roster around him. He doesn't have to be the best defender on his team like he was in Phoenix, he's not expected to be a dirty work player to supplement roster imbalances, and there isn't really any issues about how he'll fit in.

the issue with Minnesota is they dont have any quality draft picks or young assets (outside of Dillingham) to give PHX, so their only options are to give quality vet players like Randle/Gobert/DDV/Reid to PHX, which defeats the purpose of trading for KD because they likely don't even get better in the short term if they have to give up 2 of Randle/Gobert/DDV/Reid just to get KD.

KD has more upside for Houston because their team gets noticeably better in the short-term by trading Jalen Green/#10 for KD, there is also more downside if the #10 pick turns out to be something special, but that's the risk they have to be willing to take.

Ah that makes sense. Not very smart of him (non financial reasons).

Smdh

Minn was/is probably the best for for him TBH. Contender ready team, fits the team time line, etc.

I guess he's looking at non tax states like Texas (Rockets, Spurs.....Mavs), Florida (Heat, Magic), and Tennessee (Memphis Grizzlies).
I guess the Rockets and Grizz would fit him the best. Closer to Contender ready.

It depends on who Minnesota ships out but the team was literally just in the WCF. Obviously for Minnesota, it’s better if Randle is the main piece traded but I still think even if you trade Gobert, as long as you resign Naz Reid, you can fill in the gaps.

I like Houston, but they’re a bit still too young and Green. Edwards is a superstar now and Durant’s window is very short. Everything you said that applies to the Rockets applies to the Wokves as well.

That makes sense. Ya, Minnesota shouldn't gv up Gobert for that.

Can't trust KD.

That what worries me about him with my Spurs , too. Giving up players, assets for a short term thing, that's if he even stays healthy.

I'm kinda hoping teams like the Heat, Knicks or Rockets gets him at this point
