To be fair we are prolly only offering the 9th pick for a star level player. We are prolly using this 9th pick as a way to get the foot in the door with these trade talks....Since it prolly is our most valuable asset atm since we are not trading Barnes.

I’d rather trade Barnes lol

You'd rather trade Scottie Barnes than the #9 pick in a crapshoot draft?? I wouldn't

I like resetting the table a bit and not having to worry about building around him.

The Raps select Suggs over Barnes then using this rational though. Suggs was the better and more accomplished college player.

Scottie Barnes also showed alot more than Carter Bryant in college....He gave you 10, 4, 4, with 2 Steals and 1 blk on 24 mins a game....Carter Bryant is no where near the passer Barnes was....Barnes had and has alot more dynamics in his game than what Bryant showed in college....Sure Suggs was a better college player than Barnes but lets not act like Barnes was a project type...He was going to go top 10 in that draft...

With Carter Bryant you could reach for him at 9 and look silly because he has not shown in college he could be a consistant player....Barnes at least showed that he could even on limited mins....Carter Bryant is certainly a project and it could either go well....Or goes terrible....I am more on the side Bryant at 9 does not bring back 9th pick value and a player that would be available at that spot will end up alot better of a player....For me if a player can't do certain things at the college level i believe its a huge uphill battle for them to develop it in the NBA....Especially something like shot creation, Ball handling, Sloppy passing, Basketball IQ/Feel...

I'm talking more about philosophy than specific players. Sometimes taking the higher risk player with more potential is right strategy.

I agree, with the caveat that I think approaching picks below the Top 5 as if they need to yield a franchise player can be the root cause of bad drafting. Given the choice between a "swing for solid double, settle for a base hit" and a "home run cut", I'd prefer to do the former at #9.

My philosophy would change if we were in the Top 5 but putting all our chips on potential after 8 bites of that apple have already been taken is not the way forward. Not unless you know something that others do not (like was the case with Giannis).

Vecenie saying he might rank Beringer ahead of Maluach says more about Maluach than it does Beringer.

Bailey, Edgecombe, Tre Johnson, and Kon Knueppel are the four players most discussed in league circles as targets for the 76ers in this year's draft, sources said. Although there was talk of Khaman Maluach being a potential target for Philadelphia, that rumor has since led to a dead end. In recent days, rumors of Edgecombe being ahead of Bailey on the Sixers' draft board formed, especially after a private workout.

This too has led to rampant speculation about Morey's approach to the NBA Draft and creating the most value possible for his team's draft position. With just over one week until the 2025 NBA Draft, Bailey still seems to be the player who would make the most sense as a long-term fit next to Jared McCain and Tyrese Maxey. Then again, Edgecombe is right there with Bailey right now for being the third pick.

Bailey and Edgecombe are truly 50-50 at this very moment to be the third pick.

The 10th pick in this year's NBA Draft continues to be the target of multiple teams attempting to trade up, sources said. Rafael Stone and the Houston Rockets have been receptive to all offers coming their way, as they continue to be involved in Kevin Durant trade talks leading up to the draft. If the Phoenix Suns were to trade Durant to Houston, they would do so to retain this 10th pick, sources said.

There is also momentum building for Derik Queen, one of the best frontcourt prospects in this draft, to be selected in the 10-14 range. Queen has been linked the most to the Chicago Bulls with the 12th pick, yet league sources indicate that the Bulls are still evaluating a few other names in this spot to provide more athleticism and length to their roster.

Egor Demin, Carter Bryant, and Asa Newell are three players who have also come up in conversations about the Bulls.

Multiple sources have also relayed intel about Chicago exploring the possibility of moving up in this year's draft should Bailey be passed on by the 76ers, or another team that trades up, with the third pick.

How the Bulls could possibly move up from the 12th pick to have a chance at selecting Bailey would be the ultimate question should the Rutgers star fall in the top five.

None of the three rebuilding teams behind the 76ers' pick (Charlotte, Utah, and Washington) would hold much interest in anything Chicago has to offer except draft compensation in future years. It is tough to see a Bailey-Bulls scenario playing out in this year's draft.

Teams are also keeping a close eye on the Atlanta Hawks with the 13th and 22nd picks in this year's draft.

While some have suggested Atlanta should leverage these selections and try to move into the top 10, the Hawks appear to be comfortable adding two more young talents to build the future of their roster. Despite changes in their front office, the Hawks have not held serious Trae Young trade discussions, sources said.

Other quick information regarding certain draftees with rising stocks entering the 2025 NBA Draft:

Jeremiah Fears is unlikely to fall past the Brooklyn Nets with the No. 8 pick. The New Orleans Pelicans, sources said, are one of a few teams interested in Fears.
Multiple lottery teams have expressed interest in Cedric Coward. Keep an eye on the Oklahoma City Thunder being a destination for Coward, should they actually use this pick on a non-international prospect.
There continues to be a high belief that Carter Bryant (Arizona) will be one of the first 14 players to hear his name called by Adam Silver on draft night.
Joan Beringer from France has quietly been rising on draft boards across the league over the last two weeks, sources said. His ceiling is now viewed as a late-lottery talent, as the French big man has some fans who are valuing him higher than Queen as the second-best center in this draft class behind Maluach.

In terms of physical profile and coming into the league projected as a 3+D big (more 4 than 5), JJJ seems to be the closest comparable I can find for R Fleming.

JJJ was a much better prospect -- he did what Fleming did as a young freshman and his rim protection was also on a completely different level, but if Fleming can be 50% of what JJJ became, he'd be a very useful player.

Combine:
R Fleming: 6'8.25 w/o shoes, 7'5.25 wingspan, 9'1 standing reach, 232.4 lbs
Jackson Jr: 6'9.75 w/ shoes, 7'5.25 wingspan, 9'2 standing reach, 236.0 lbs

Draft Year:
R Fleming (21): 31.3 MIN, 14.7 PPG, 8.5 REB, 1.3 AST, 2.9 STOCKS, .531 FG, .390 3PT, .743 FT, .638 TS, 21.2 USG, 7.7 BPM
Jackson Jr (18): 21.8 MIN, 10.9 PPG, 5.8 REB, 1.1 AST, 3.6 STOCKS, .513 FG, .396 3PT, .797 FT, .647 TS, 23.5 USG, 11.7 BPM

So grateful we are looking to trade 9. So many teams offering great deals.

The ATL deal is a no-brainer. I dont see much of a difference between Kas, queen, cmb, Noa or Carter Bryant. Guaranteed one at 13

I don't think the report suggested moving the pick to move down for more picks.....It suggested more so that we are going to package the pick with players for a significant upgrade....So a KD type move or another star if one becomes available.

It didn't. Stein said we are looking to move down, not out - this was the intel. He speculated that we we may use it for Durant and 29 - there was no intel there. We can easily move down for multiple picks and turn around and move one of those picks for a player while using the other.

I am with Sam on this one, because it is a "might rank" higher because I think Beringer does big man things at NBA speed.

Now, I haven't sat with KM or Beringer in practices and seen their work so it is hard to judge character, but both come from humble beginnings and made themselves into lotto level guys in a short period.

We know Beringer is a good rim runner and great athlete who can get out on the perimeter. KM did a little of getting out on the perimeter, but judging from his agility, he is going to be 90% a drop big. He's a big human and he has trouble controlling himself once he gets moving quickly - the start-stop takes a second longer than normal humans.

The big question is the shot. If Maluach can really shoot it from range, he becomes another tier of big like JJJ. If they believe in that, he might be a top three pick because that is a rare skillset. Beringer is young, but he just keeps it simple as a big. I expect him to improve short roll passing but I don't see him as a shooter, ever.

Possible ....But it also suggested we are moving down to Aquire KD as well....It could suggest we are trading the pick for a "Star" player + w/e their first round pick is as well instead of moving out of the draft entirely which makes sense because if we give up guys like Yak/IQ or RJ....We would need to use a draft pick to at least bring in a guy at the positions of need and depth after trading some of it away for the "Star".....

But i don't see us trading down in the draft without some kinda player involved as well for us...

I’d much rather package 9 for two picks in the teens rather than go for a Durant. Ja you can probably sell me on I think he was on the cusp of superstardom before all the hi jinx.

It does seem like we aren’t super high on anybody and extremely disappointed dropping down to 9th.

Masai has been doing this since the Jakob Poeltl trade, even trading away Pascal and OG was done to smooth out the roster and get more win now guys (Barrett and IQ), then flip most of the picks into another win now guy (Ingram). Now it's looking like 9 and possible more future first round picks will be traded away to bring in a star, I really hope a lame duck President is not going to be allowed to mortgage the future of this team in a desperate attempt to save his job, this core is not in the same position as Orlando where it can be argued it makes sense for them to trade a mountain of picks for a 3rd or even 4th best player on a good team.
