I don't think the report suggested moving the pick to move down for more picks.....It suggested more so that we are going to package the pick with players for a significant upgrade....So a KD type move or another star if one becomes available.
It didn't. Stein said we are looking to move down, not out - this was the intel. He speculated that we we may use it for Durant and 29 - there was no intel there. We can easily move down for multiple picks and turn around and move one of those picks for a player while using the other.
Possible ....But it also suggested we are moving down to Aquire KD as well....It could suggest we are trading the pick for a "Star" player + w/e their first round pick is as well instead of moving out of the draft entirely which makes sense because if we give up guys like Yak/IQ or RJ....We would need to use a draft pick to at least bring in a guy at the positions of need and depth after trading some of it away for the "Star".....
But i don't see us trading down in the draft without some kinda player involved as well for us...
I posted about this before, but I can definitely see us moving down to shift some salary, bring in a better trade piece, or just to get a future pick. You can save $2-$3m in salary by moving into the teens from 9, and that's pretty significant given how close we are to the tax line. If they don't love anyone at 9 and think they can get similar talent later, I can seem them moving down for a future pick.

At this point, I'm not even getting too excited about any particular player....it feels like the FO is hellbent on using it to trade for a "star".

I think the Nets will be the Essengue team, assuming Fears doesn't drop and they don't move up. He also perfectly fits the Portland mold too and did have his big breakout game against them.

Mentally prepared to trade for Cam Johnson and pick 19 instead of 9
I think the Atlanta trade is the most likely one.
The Cam Johnson one is interesting as part as a three team deal, not on its own.

Re: 2025 NBA Draft Discussion Part 9
Hugo González has been with Real Madrid since before age 10 on their youth teams. The kid is a basketball lifer at age 19 and I think he is probably "under-mocked" because he just didn't get minutes on the veteran stacked big club. Scouts like Bobby and Masai know this kid from his youth days. Masai was even caught at one of his games earlier this year:
Why Hugo Gonzalez stands out to me?
Measurements
6’6 ¼" barefoot, 222.7 lbs with a 6’10 ¾" wingspan, 8’5 ½" standing reach, and 9” x 10 ¼" hands (that's about the size of Scottie's hands)
-He is the same height as Carter Bryant, also Hugo is 10 lbs heavier and has bigger hands (CB: 8.5 x 9.5)
-From film I'd say he is an equal level of athlete because you can see the highlight reel blocks and dunks. Hugo is kind of a throwback classic to a slashing wing, but I would say he is very defensive minded, being a crafty defender who gets deflections and chase down blocks.
63.6% FG at the rim
87th percentile (1.15 PPP) in transition and on cuts
77% freethrow
In FIBA u18 in 2024 he averaged 21/7/3 which shows that with minutes he can produce. He will need work on his shot and his handle, but he can earn minutes for his defense and rim finishing. If you are considering Carter Byrant at 9, than Hugo should also be on the same list. If you are considering him later in the draft, you have to think Brooklyn will take him with one of their later picks mainly because Jordi Fernandez is their head coach and he knows HG well.

I wonder what team will end up drafting the 9th pick this year.

Re: 2025 NBA Draft Discussion Part 9
I’m liking Noa right now over Bryant. I think his potential is higher, so if we’re gonna swing might as well be him imo.
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars
Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid
There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

Definitely one of the most slept on prospects. Solid run/jump athlete with good feel. If he’s willing to stay in Europe another year, I think he goes a lot higher than people think.

Yeah. I have been feeling that way for a while. If he can eventually hit the 3, he'll have way more upside than Bryant. Even if he can't hit the 3 at a decent rate, he'll still become a servicable PF.
I think Bryant's floor is higher, but ceiling is much lower.

I thought he would return too, but he kept his name in the draft, so that implies he has a first round promise and probably a higher one since he could have got a lot of NIL money. I still don't know his contract buyout situation.

Right, I meant as more of a draft and stash. There are a lot of teams with multiple mid-to-late picks. Landing someone with Hugo’s upside without having to find a roster spot would be a huge win for a few teams. I could see us doing something like that if we end up trading back.
