No, he wouldn't.

This too easy...Rip Hamilton (One of my favorite players). He is the reason for my username. His mid range game was silky smooth. No Piston on the current roster has his game

Beasley has his game, just from a few feet further out (and thus more points at a time).

Beasley has no midrange game. Hell, as great of a mid range shooter Rip was, he still had a post game. Rip could create his own shot and was a spot up shooter. Beasley is just a 3 pt shooter and when his shot isn't falling he's useless. He defense stinks

Rip was far from amazing defensively and got to the rim about as often as Beasley does. When Rip's midrange shot wasn't falling, he wasn't offering much either. They're pretty similar players, really, Beasley just gets 3 points for his shots and Rip got 2, which feels about right for their individual eras.

The answer in my view is still Chauncey- I posted this in the wrong thread a couple of days ago.

He spreads the floor, can effectively guard opposing point guards, and takes playmaking pressure off of Cade. Oh, and he doesn't turn the ball over.

He and Cade would complement one another extremely well- Chauncey is a good enough shooter to have value when Cade is handling the ball, too. They'd be the best backcourt in the NBA.

I get why people are saying Sheed given his skillset. But as great as he was it always felt like something was holding him back. He was never anywhere near the level of impact as Chauncey IMO.

I feel like Dennis gives us a similar player profile as Chauncey. Can't beat Chauncey for clutch, though.

This is kind of a wild take TBH. I can't tell if you're wildly overrating Dennis based on one playoff series or really underrating Billups.

Beasley is not 25% the player that Rip was.

The nba is too much of a copy cat league. I would make it mandatory for all our players to have some sort of post game. During the exit interviews, I would tell the players to come back with post game including Sasser

I said similar player profile, not that Dennis was as good as Chauncey. Chauncey was a better overall playmaker, shot maker, and team leader for sure. Dennis just does a lot of the same types of things on the team that Chauncey would do if he was on this team, imo.

Man that 04 team could literally post anyone up. So wish they bring back the post up game!

MJ
Seriously, prime Memo would be an ace in today's NBA, too. But, this thread was revived too early. Wait for summer!

Completely random, but came across this and didn't want to start a thread for it so just shoving it with the '04 conversation. I got major feels watching it.

It’s Chauncey than Sheed I think. Isiah, Joe, and Rodman all could play with this team too.

In today's league, the delta between Sheed and Memo wouldn't be that much.

When Beasley gets put on an even keel to Rip, and Schroder gets assimilated to Billups, you know you are reading posts PROFOUNDLY based in recency bias.

That 04 team was so good that I think Elden Cambell would start for the Pistons today. Im truly not a fan of Billups and his play but he would get this team 10ppg more just by limiting TOs and being a better shooter than Hardaway. Corlis vs Tobias is an interesting debate.
