Here's one man opinion, but written last year he has the bucks 2030 (at the time six years away) first as the 7th most valuable pick out of the 65 that have been traded.

He's also got their 2027 and 2029 picks ranked #4 and #1. He think's Giannis is gone. If the Bucks trade Giannis for a salary dump and picks only I could see them being bad enough to make those picks extremely valuable. But my view on picks owed multiple years down the road is you're giving teams a healthy on-ramp to avoid that, and I think any team actually trying to be good can at least get to play-in status, especially in the East.

Would you guys prefer NAW at 14m to Trent at 8-10m?

Now that Dame's mostly out of the equation, give me Trent for the continuity & price. Trent-Dame always made a rough defensive backcourt & we could use Gary's offense in the absence of Dame. Hopefully we could get KPJ on the BAE & whoever (LaRavia?) w/ the extra 5m.

Speaking of Trent, I think it's interesting Hollinger has Beasley worth $22 million.

Steph Curry led the NBA in made 3s per 100 possessions in four of his five healthy seasons before 2024-25. Last season, he finished second to Malik Beasley.

Yeah, he was that potent. Alas, the Pistons don’t have the cap space to pay Beasley this kind of money and have no Bird rights after signing him to a screaming bargain of a one-year deal last summer.

The Pistons’ best bet to retain Beasley is to sign him for the $14.1 million nontaxpayer midlevel exception. Fortunately for Detroit, nobody besides the Nets has cap space to offer Beasley more than that.

The Pistons also have a break-glass scenario where they could renounce Paul Reed, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Schröder and have $17 million in cap room to keep Beasley, but that leaves the roster too shallow; they’d only have the $8.78 million room exception left to find a backup point guard and a rotation wing.

The real question for Beasley, then, is probably more about security versus betting on himself. Would he rather sign a deal for three or four years to lock in long-term money? Or would he prefer an MLE deal for $29 million over two years with a player option, which would allow him to jump back into the market a year from now with the Pistons having his early Bird rights and more rival teams having cap space? The latter strikes me as more likely.

A year ago he was in virtually identical places with where Trent is now. Coming off a Bucks season, unrestricted FA. Extremely similar numbers:

Feel like if the Bucks want to bet on a guy, he'd be a good one.

I know it's blasphemy to talk about an unathletic dude who wears a t-shirt these days, but I'd be interested in throwing Cam Spencer a deal and seeing where Memphis is on him.

Bobby Portis: I mean honestly—just personally—this year’s free agency, I’m focused on Bobby Portis. I’m worried about what’s best for me, what’s best for my situation. Where can I fit? Where can I play the best basketball? If I sign a three- or four-year deal, where can I be the best version of Bobby Portis? Where can I grow, and where can I be compensated fairly? That’s my biggest focus right now. Obviously, I would love to be back in Milwaukee. I’m not saying I don’t want to come back to the Bucks—I would love to—but I just want to be compensated fairly, man. I’ve taken a lot of team-friendly deals to be here. We’re at a point now where I feel like it’s time I get compensated—fairly—to my peers. That’s all I ask for.

Yes - I think a legit 3&D wing is harder to find than a good shooter. Especially since we already have AJ Green.

i can't imagine it's possible to accurately rank future draft picks given all the variables and dynamics at play.. but the sub text here is that our 31 1st might be seen as incredibly valuable if league GMs would rank things similarly.

He's a good player, but it looks like we're finally going to build a switchable team, and I'm not sure he fits that.

I don't think I'd call him unathletic though. He's not a leaper, but he has the rest. His challenge is lack of length.

Agree. The weirdest thing Trent had done is attach himself to Dame, who's the worst possible teammate for his game. Giannis is the perfect teammate for Trent though.

NAW is really good, but his 3 point release is too slow for playoff success.

I like this line of thinking though, pursuing younger talent rather than maxed out veteran nobodies. The player I'd like to steal the same way would be Trey Alexander.

We've tried the Marjon, AJJ and Kuzma types.

for a minimum? nope!

with pick 47? probably not.

A guy like Kalkenbrenner or Nembhard may be available and they fit the bill I mention.Kalkenbrenner isn't a three point threat yet, but is highly skilled,as is Nembhard. So yes, they are available.

What about defend? Tough to find defenders that are bad athletes. Joe Ingles was no help. Average athletes? Sure.

Plenty of good defenders who aren't athletic. Green is one of them and there are others.

Yes, we desperately need bbiq. I really wanted to draft him last year and hope he turned into TJ McConnell. It really shouldn't take much to get him.

Well, there goes our apron room. I'd sign him to a 3 year deal, give him huge minutes and trade him at the deadline for max value. It's a cold blooded decision but one that teams in our situation need to make.

Bobby is very candid, that was great. He has potential for an analyst in the future.

If he is truly looking to get paid, then I'm not sure if Bobby comes back to Milwaukee. That sucks, I like him more than most people do, but we can't get into a bidding war.

I think he comes back (who with cap space is giving him more than $14 mil per?), but if we gotta play hardball with Bobby then so be it. Knowing Horst, he probably caves on a 4-year, $80 million extension with a player option tacked on though....

Return to Milwaukee Bucks
