It's a damn shame too because the first three games in this Finals were incredible and it was headed towards being one of the better ones in history. Sadly, they intervened in Game 4 and the wind has been justifiably taken out of the Pacer's sails.

the reason why there were way more fouls in previous generations was because the game was based around post play so you had bigs (centers and forward) banging down low and elite centers requiring teams to carry extra bigs to absorb fouls in hopes to contain them. So it's not apples to apples for you apologists trying to point to them.

Yeah 56 FTs combined is a lot. Definitely more than most Finals. That said, here are a few higher totals from past Finals (I didn't go through all the years, just browsed a dozen) -

1995 - 65 FTs (Rockets/Magic)
1997 - 60 FTs (Bulls/Utah)
2000 - 60 FTs (Lakers/Pacers)
2006 - 60 FTs (Heat/Mavs)\

I haven't been able to put my finger on exactly why I find this year's Finals a little boring, despite some really good games, I think this might be a big reason.
