TGM wrote:It’s funny how people keep focusing on the age. KD is still balling and his body shows that he can still play at a high level. My guess is if I took KD till he was 42 versus IQ or RJ from 25-30. KD would still out produce those guys. KD would have been dropping 30 a night if it weren’t becuase he was sharing shots with Booker and Beal.

The man’s body is like a 32 year old and has still some very good years left in him.

Reasons be against the trade:

- he is 37, every athletes body is 'younger' than the equivilant of a normal person
- we only have him guaranteed for one year, he may very well leave after that year, and we lost 3 valuable assets for nothing,
- we give up 2 startes and a FRP for a Player that WONT make a difference in our success
- he is a diva, there were always problems with him, not matter how good he plays, but i dont think the headache is worth it
- we are NOT a KD away from competing
- this a multiyear process, so you need players around the age of the core, or at least in their prime, not already past the prime

Which makes no sense. We already have a bad defense, why weaken it with Sabonis? And he is not worth Yak + RJ. He is overpaid.

I don't know what communication they had with anyone, but in my mind if they were chasing Giannis, likely Scotty may have been in play. I know we say we don't leak, but it's not true, Doug Smith had an article and you know he's not going to go out on a limb and report on anything the team didnt want out, he's not that kind of a reporter. I sometimes think the front office just wants it known they're out there in the mix. But after this latest report, if we don't do anything we've had the whole SL in trade rumours. I mean, its a bad team so they should expect that, but it's noteworthy none the less.

Not sure it changes either team much, if at all, but I have had a feeling the Raps are after Simons.

it's possible they feel they can get a backup center at 11 (like queen) so they are after simons or jerami grant.

If you were going to pay Simons, why not just pay RJ? Both good scorers, but bad defenders.

i guess it would be changing the type of scoring as simons is a better 3 point shooter. he takes over 8 a game at 38+% for the most part the last 5 years.

IQ/simons/ochai/gradey/ingram would all be shooters with gravity. maybe we can add shead/jakobe to that mix as well.

i think the better get would be jerami grant who's under contract for 2 more years then a PO in 27/28

POR wants to get off Grant's contract
I'll do it if they add Clingan

probably many irons in the fire and won't effect other deals.

if it's rj for simons or rj/filler for jerami grant then we still have #9, iq + yak for another move.

update - actually in the trade checker, rj for jerami works straigtht up.

100%

I do think you're right that RJ doesn't suit up for the Raps ever again.

if we're talking to Portland about RJ it is probably involving Ayton's expiring

portland has a few players we can use

fills holes: ayton, grant, clingan
changes offense dyanmic: simons

i don't think clingan is available so i think it would be more for ayton, grant or simons

ya, that Grant contract is going to be almost impossible to move, especially with him coming off a season where he shot 37% from the field.

Still has 3 more years. 32M this coming season, then 34M, then a 36M player option which he will most certainly pick-up.

Clingan is 7'3" in shoes with a 7'7" wingspan. Dude is a monster.
