Guessing his camp's rationale is that he won't get picked 1 or 2. Philly at 3 is a wildcard because they may not be picking there, and truthfully, he would be the 4th or 5th option on the team. He probably doesn't want to go to Utah and Charlotte has Bridges and Miller there.

Agreed. His most likely destination is probably Washington. I’m sure Utah would like to pick him, but probably far more likely they are the team he’s trying to avoid than force his way to.

If Ace falls to us that would be a huge W. It is entirely possible he is trying to force his way to us because he knows he will get a lot of freedom here.

Givony has been saying Ace was potentially dropping. NC guys have said the same thing.

This would make a ton of sense with all the potentially manufactured “wizards interest in trading up for Edgecombe reports” probably Philly trying to get Charlotte to move up.

Philly wants to move down for Tre, Charlotte wants VJ, we want Bailey at 6. Bailey wants to go anywhere but Utah LOL

Not really a big enough gap between Kneuppel/Johnson/Jakucionis and Edgecombe to warrant giving up 6&18 to move up to 3.

If Philly would take Kispert+6 for 3, I’d do it.

One of Essengue, CMB, Traore, Richardson is going to be sitting there at 18. If anything, we should be looking into trading down.

It would be amazing if Brooklyn traded #8 and #19 for #6 and #40 to draft Fears, and we still landed Ace at #8.

Im still fantasizing about Bryant. But I'd also be happy
about Fleming, Sorber or Wolf. I'm a little Leary about
Jase but he does have NBA DNA. So many interesting
possibilities.

This is eerily similar to last year with Sarr signaling that he wanted to be drafted by Washington instead of Atlanta.

If it pans out that way, a lot of credit goes to Dawkins and Co. for making this a place players want to play.

Seems like another example of why it’s important to hang onto those higher usage veteran players for a certain amount of time and not force guys like Carrington/George/Coulibaly/Sarr into unnecessary roles that can both hurt their development, over-inflate their numbers, and impact the outside perception in terms of available role/opportunity here for young players.

The Sarr camp definitely saw a good fit/opportunity, maybe the same is happening with Bailey. I can get behind Ace at 6 with significantly less expectation/pressure.

I really dont see it with Bailey other than the age. Flagg, Tre, VJ, and Fears are clearly the maniacal workers in the top 5, with Bailey being the all hat, no cattle prospect.
If Bailey slips to us, auction that pick off and move on. Send 6 + 40 to the Nets for 8, 19, 36
Essengue/Fears at 8
Sorber/Coward/Fleming/Traore/Wolf/Beringer with 18 & 19
Broome/Penda/Kam Jones/Powell/Gonzalez/Thiero/Toohey at 36.

I wonder what Utah will do after apparently missing badly with Cody Williams, they are so hard to predict.

I get it. Ace is a high risk gamble who might be a bust. But he also has an extremely high upside, and we are a team in need of star talent.

This is real.

Edit: Wasserman also updated his mock, now has Bailey going to Washington at 6.

It would be crazy great if the Zards end up with Bailey at 6 given that he’s considered one of the top 3-4 players in this draft.

Makes sense that he’d prefer the young, up-and-coming Zards to the older Philly team and DC over a place like Utah or Charlotte.

Don’t want to get my hopes up too high though.

Wow, just wrapping my mind around Ace potentially being the guy, you can’t deny him being THE biggest swing there, we would still need the right PG for this group, the FO has to realize this.

How about Traore at 18?

Is anyone concerned on the why he's dropping though?

Re Ace
I'm suspicious that this could be too good to be true

Or a be careful what you wish for situation.

For a guy at 3rd on Tank, how seriously should we
think about why 3 other teams are thought to be
looking elsewhere. Or is this another conspiracy by
the league to make up for screwing us in the lotto?

FWIW, I really am pretty skeptical about the conspiracy
theories out there about the lotto being fixed.
This in spite of there being a funky smell about it.
How would they convince the losers to stay quiet
when they're being screwed and kept down in perpetuity?
