He may be this draft's Cam Whitmore.

More like similar to Walter.
Whitemore was due to injury, two different scenarios.

Walter was never slated top 5 pre-draft

He was, but it was very very early in the process. Especially after his 28 point debut against Auburn.

I think its pretty telling we haven't had any official news on any top prospects working out in Toronto so far.

niQ wrote:Ace Bailey stock dropping.

Bailey losing momentum after refusing to visit, initially unsatisfied with his search for a proven pathway to development. However, Bailey is scheduled to work out in Philadelphia at the end of this week, and we'll see if he's able to sway the tides in his favor.
The feedback from his interviews at the draft combine in Chicago was not all that positive, with some teams expressing concern about his lack of preparation and focus. NBA executives say Bailey has been polarizing in internal front-office conversations because of questions about his feel for the game and lack of polish, creating a wider draft range than initially anticipated.

Bailey's predraft workout strategy has perplexed some observers, as he has yet to conduct a single known workout to date, having declined invitations from several teams within his draft range. Sources say Bailey's camp has informed interested teams that they believe he is a top-3 player in the draft, but also seeks a clear pathway to stardom, perhaps feeling comfortable that a team will trade up to get him at Nos. 3 or 4, should he drop.

I can definitely see him dropping. A lot of red flags in the profile, and I'm not just talking about the shot diet.

Hmm. I think Walter did have an injury that limited his play.

Didn't Whitmore's interviews hurt him as well?

yeah at the beginning of the season. Totally different then Ace. He's been slated top 3 throughout.

I never got the Ace hype. He's a non playmaking "scorer" who had a 53 TS%.

I can see some 3+D potential with him, but I never thought of him as a clear cut top 4-5 guy. If he was a 3-4 star recruit who didn't receive so much preseason hype, he'd wouldn't go this high based on his freshman season.

Also weary about the guys who are afraid to meet/work out for teams.

He was pre-season and very, very early. But not this late in the process like Ace, definitely not.

i'm not sure if we're looking to add guaranteed money but flipping #39 and a future 2nd into their pick would be nice.

Not even a comparison to Ace in terms of draft position.
On a side note, I think Walter was a steal at 19

Agreed. Though, I guess the early allure was that everyone thought he was 6'10 and still growing.

Trade #9/39 to ATL for #13/22 and take Coward/Fleming and call it a day.

If he’s there at 9 it’s a no brainer. Even if he busts you almost HAD to make that pick.

Wow! He's getting horrible advice. He may be a star (I have my doubts), but a lot of dominos will have to fall into place for him and all of them involve him proving himself on the court. This is entitlement and I can't imagine will do much to endear him to FOs around the league
