I'm not advocating for moving anyone specifically but we are going to get good talent for whoever we do trade. So say you lose a defender whats to say you can't get a defender back but that player could be broken into a 2 or 3 pieces or salaries...or getting a pick(s) to re-route for another player we want.
you need someone as good as og on defense. he's taking all the hardest matchups. i don't see how you get that in return as well as an additional good player.
Yes and No.
OG vs Tatum ton of value.
OG vs the Pacers probably not as much value (I don't think he had much of a defensive impact because the pacers are smart enough to take him out of actions). Brunson and KAT were defending most of the oppositions shots anyway so was his defense super impactful in the conference finals?
I think OG will be more effective with a new coach, because Thibs wasn't the most creative defensive coach. Like we could have run some more matchup zone so OG can't get "switched" off a screen taking away his effectiveness.
But Mikal and OG both hurt us on the offensive end because they simply didn't shoot well enough. Both played very strong defense when they weren't screened off there guy.
Both had the worst +/- in the playoffs because teams figured out they just had to screen them off the best players (attacking brunson and KAT) and there defensive wasn't as impactful and they both didn't shoot well enough to overcome teams scheming them off the best players.
