But our truly biggest need, even before a scorer - is a creator for others. An offensive engine. Advantage creator. Someone that gets into the paint and can finish/get to the line/find the open guy.
Getting KD alone without also getting that type of a player is pointless. Herro isn't enough, Mitchell isn't enough either. We need a legit rim pressure guy.
Tyus Jones took the minimum to go to Phoenix. He'd be a solid pg to add. Chris Paul or Westbrook would be even better.
These guys might help, but they don't bring consistent enough rim pressure to really take our offense to where it needs to be.
Sure we won't get Haliburton or Fox, but a Collin Sexton (for example) might bring just enough juice to take the offense to another level. And he just might be attainable at a reasonable price.
You'd be surprised what can open up when you have real offensive talent and not undrafted plug-ins that only stretch defenses with their shooting.
Durant and Herro can create their own shot. And Durant is a guy defenses really have to center on because he can drop 50 in no time. So with Durant on the floor, more opportunities will open up for Herro and then for others down the line.
I think DeRozan, especially at his salary, would be an interesting option if Miami can keep enough Draft capital to get Sacramento to part with him. He's another offensive monster that can get his own shot and get to the line.
