Combining rumours, but I wonder if something like the following could work:

TOR: Cam Johnson, Malik Monk, 26, 27, future SAC 2rp
SAC: Ochai, Mogbo,19,
BKN: RJ, 9

Brings balance to the line-up and gives us two shots in the middle of the first round, where I think there is a lot of talent IMO

To Sacramento - Poeltl, Quickley, Dick, #9,

To Toronto - Sabonis, Monk

Sacramento are rebuilding, Quickley is a strong young guard, Dick a strong prospect, a lotto pick, and a strong C to flip to a contender at the deadline. Toronto may need to include further draft picks.

Toronto moves into win now mode.

C- Sabonis
PF- Barnes
SF- Ingram
SG- Barrett
PG- Monk

Bench- Walter, Mogbo, Shead, Chomche

I wouldn't do #9 + salary for Sabonis. It'd be strange fit.

I just hope Sabonis is named to to try and lower the Durant offer.

Looking at PGs on the rumour mill (Garland, Ja, Lamelo, Jrue and Smart), I thought Smart was the most realistic option. I agree that this package is underselling RJ and maybe the best option is to play with scottie as the PG and just keep RJ if there are no better trade options out there. I do like picking up Smart and Bey as buy low options but I don't see that happening salary wise without giving up RJ, at which point it is no longer buy low.

That is why we bounce these hypotheticals around to try and refine them to make the most sense to all parties.

Not sure how I feel about this because Lauri had a down year and Kessler needs to get paid, but how about…

Lauri
Kessler

For

RJ
Yak
Plus our full draft

Kessler
Lauri
Ingram
Barnes
IQ

That is a pretty nice starting lineup and the bench looks good too. Not sure we could afford the Kessler, Occhai extensions though. Would have to run the numbers on it.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

With the exception of Giannis & Jokic I wouldn't give up every draft pick for anyone already on their third contract. It just doesn't make sense to go make that type of move, that's 8 picks (5 picks, 3 swaps).

2025 9th overall
2026 pick
2027 swap
2028 pick
2029 swap
2030 pick
2031 swap
2032 pick

For Lauri & Kessler?

Lauri @ 17 million was infinitely more valuable than @ 46 million under this CBA.

If you're going to be giving up every pick you should only target a star player either still on a rookie deal or just starting his second deal with exceptions for MVP level talent. Those players aren't usually available, but that's the type worth giving up everything for. So just looking at players drafted in 2018 or later.

Giannis
Jokic

Doncic
SGA
Edwards
Haliburton
Cunningham
Mobley
Wagner
Banchero
Holmgren
Williams
Wembanyama
Amen
Flagg

Those are the 15 players I would consider trading every pick for and I'm on the fence on about 5 of them. Also only 1 or 2 of them would be available at any given time if at all.

Not bad. Personally, I'd rather keep Yak and trade rj, and Dick or Walter, and ochai for Markannen, no Kessler.

RJ and future lottery protected 1st for Trey Murphy

Take a gamble that Joe Dumars still has not recovered from his lobotomy in 2006.

We shouldn’t offer the 39.

Herb > RJ
9 >> 23
39 > Olynyk

Herb is better than RJ, but 9 to 23 is massive. At 23 you’re getting into crapshoot territory for hit rate.

Ochai, 39 and LAL 2026 SRP for B. Clarke and 16.

Image

We get a bench big and a mid first

Grizzlies save a bunch of money to open room for JJJ max while getting a playable guard/wing and extra draft capital. Didn't do the math on if it allows them to keep Santi as well but it may. Save money drafting top of second round vs mid first

Can then draft with 9 (Khaman/Queen) and target a bench wing with the 16th pick. Coward/Clifford/Essengue/Bryant all targets here to round out the bench. Coward being my preferred pick. I think we might need to reach to take him unless the Spurs or OKC take him right before us (wouldn't be surprised). Wouldn't be opposed to Kasparas if he falls here or Jase, Shead isn't exactly a sure bet

Assuming no KD trade (or this could even be in addition to if we still have Ochai and our seconds) the roster would be:

IQ/RJ/BI/SB/JP
Shead/Walter/Dick/Clarke/Khaman or Queen + Mogbo, Chomche and 16th pick
"Above average role player is now being paid like a superstar from one good playoff series. This will end up as one of the worst contracts in the league." paulbball on Pascal Siakam

i don't like it but i'm guessing that would be a money move. The current roster is extremely expensive (with very little success).

I think we should be all in on a pursuit of Santi Aldama this summer. I've read he has a close relationship with Darko and is an excellent stretch big.
Also, ranked 31st in the league in BPM. Just behind Durant, Brunson, and Kyrie. If we're lucky enough to get Maluach, Aldama would give us a different dimension in the frontcourt.
