The Moranis part had me immediately decide it's a must see even if it's bad. My jaw dropped when I saw that he's actually returning.

Hot Take: Spaceballs was hilarious when I was 12 and saw it in a theatre. When I went back and watched it a few years back, the humor didn’t hold up great. And my kids, huge star wars fans, didn’t laugh at all.

Not Hot Take: what the world really needs from Rick Moranis is a Strange Brew 2.

Were your kids still young? It's really a movie for people in their late-teens and up.

I loved it most when I was 18-19(ish) but I watched it again last week and still laughed my ass off.

Moranis was set to come out of retirement to do another Shrunk movie (titled "Shrunk") , it was all set to film when Covid hit, then some scheduling conflicts with the cast and Joe Johnston and then Disney put it on the shelf.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Remove it because the 4K remaster looks awful. But this? Christ.

Dept Q is beautifully shot and very well-acted.

I like it a lot through 2 episodes

First season is very slow it picks up but its never going to be a fast paced show.

I'll probably watch this one but I definitely don't see Bruce.

Finished Dept. Q. Very very good. Look forward to season 2. There are 10 books in the series so there's plenty of source material.

I just finished the book this is based on, having NO idea it was going to be a movie. My thoughts:

- White is a very good actor, and I think he's going to do a good job, but he doesn't have the physical resemblance some recent actors have had when starring in music biopics (doesn't bother me but it likely impacts some percent of the audience)

- The book/movie/story is based on the making of "Nebraska," which critics consider Bruce's most artistic and inventive album, but it didn't sell a ton and casual fans hated it (I personally love it). So I perceive some percent of the audience is going to hate the movie because it lacks the hits they expect

- There are sort of two sides (artistically) to Bruce, and anyone watching this movie expecting the highly energetic, big band, 80s mega rock star side are going to be confused/disappointed

- I personally don't love music biopics, because to get the music rights (which is essential), you need the support of the artist/estate and they are going to indulge in myth making and altering facts over truth (which to me the facts and flaws are more interesting). The Dylan biopic for example, reduced an affair/relationship/child that Bob had to the briefest encounter Bob had with a woman on an elevator

I'm honestly kind of sick of music biopics with how much they've saturated the movie market in recent years. Like, I don't dislike Springsteen, but did he really have an interesting enough life to do a 3-hour movie about?

I tend to agree with the over saturation point, but I think if you like the artist you’ll like the film.

A surprising one I really enjoyed recently was Pharrell’s lego movie biopic.

Super hero movies are the biggest over saturation. How many Batman and Superman, et al reboots does there need to be lol

Stunned Chalamet isn't playing Springsteen, feel like he doesn't get enough work.

So I think 28 Years Later might be one of the best sequels of all time? I haven't been able to stop thinking it since leaving the theater.

Lengthy scenes where I was just watching slack-jawed. Real legit edge of your seat moments. Some of the most gnarly stuff I've ever seen in a movie. One scene in-particular I wish I could bleach clean from my memory forever. But it's also really sweet and hits you emotionally. I had no idea there was a third star in the movie and when they showed up I was absolutely delighted.

Spoiler:
And yet, it ends with a straight up absurd ode to A Clockwork Orange that made me literally go, "WHAT" in a silent theater when credits rolled. I knew there was going to be a sequel, and that this is a planned trilogy, but WHAT THE **** WAS THAT ENDING. Single biggest tone shift since another Garland/Boyle joint in Sunshine. I just couldn't believe it.

Saw Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning. For the first time in the franchise, Cruise actually looked, well, old. But he still pulled off some amazing stunts and the movie was enjoyable. I still anticipate that Cruise will return to the franchise in some capacity, probably to hand it off to the next main guy.

28 Days Later is my favorite "horror" flick of all time. 28 Weeks Later was just carnage, not for me. Might just go see 28 Years Later.

Spoiler:
As soon as I saw the trailer, I clocked the zombie as Cillian Murphy. I'm right, right?

Glad to hear it because the first season sure wasn't

I am a big fan of Shane, Stavros, Tommy Pope and Chris O'Connor, but Tires **** sucked, couldn't get through the first season.

yea I didn't think 1 was good either. If you like those guys though, I'd do season 2, it actually feels like a real show. I'd assume they brought some tv/writing pros into the process rather than season 1 feeling like bros who just filmed dirty jokes on their phones. I'll be surprised if it didn't get picked up and go for a few more seasons

Season 1 was a vehicle for Shane Gillis to deliver meh jokes. It only loosely has the plot about saving the business. It was made like **** but still had its moments.

Season 2 has that same plot but with 4-5 subplots added to it, which is smart if they are going to continue. They also expanded the depth of the existing characters, added to the cast, and have more cameos. Thomas Hayden Church is really good.
